This happens to me all the time. Been happening since day one. Honestly i think it has to do with fuel. On really hot and humid days it happens when i have a certain BP's fuel in the car. But even with the ****ty fuel, a proper amount of lucas injector cleaner stops the problem.
Yeah, this has happened to me once. The engine RPM would go so low it would almost die. The first time, I just ignored it. But then it happened a couple of days later. And then again another few days later. Lucas Total Fuel System Cleaner fixed me up.

If this ever happens again, I'll make sure to play around with the lights. But I'm pretty sure in my case, I just got some bad fuel. I had got gas at an old station I'd never got gas from before.

a/c related as well. As soon as I turn it off idle goes extremely low. A/c on right back up.

I’ve noticed the 500rpm low idle then I turn my headlights on and wham! The rpm goes back up to 800rpm. I usually run E30 mix too so the carbon build-up shouldn’t be an issue

My 09 does this, I think its normal. It does idle smoother at 700 (ie lights or ac enabled).

Normal idle is around 500 rpm with no accessories on.

Hah, old thread revived! My 2008 IS-F ran beautifully until the day I traded it in September 2017. Any idle fluctuations didn't affect the car in any way.
