I thinjk this will come in very handy for the turbo setup guys, also if I read correctly you have full control over what is being displayed on the nav screen and what not.

Reflash only for OEM cals. Annual subscription is $995 vs. $400 for the standard. 2 day subscription is $55.

Sorry, if I wanted this, I'd be spending the $7k to get a full Techstream laptop. This device has very limited functionality without spending even more money than the $495 they're asking for it. I doubt it makes any sense for a casual owner to purchase.

Most performance mods need a watch and timed course to demonstrate actual improvement. Few deliver the advertised claims. Many are actually worse than stock. The best performance mods are made to the driver.

"Yes I talked to these guys at SEMA and stock cals is the only reflash capability. But you are able to disable systems and do some diagnostics. The techstream is just a software program and this runs teh physical layer Jedec standard CAN protocol via USB. The full version of the diag tool is the higher priced version of the physical interface, but the techstream software is the same.

I bet OTC is more than a bit pissed off about this development, but they've got a whole new line of gear anyway. The full Techstream has some significant advantages for older cars and new vehicles are available immediately with Techstream where Techstream lite releases will be delayed 8 - 9 months according to the documentation on TIS.

I'm still surprised Toyota offers tech support for so small an investment compared to the other OEMs. TIS is a bargain, even at $400 a year compared to the other manufacturers.
