Here is a post of my weight savings from the lighter battery thread....
I know.. I couldn't believe it at first either.
So I tripple checked everything, while I was weighing the suspension..
OEM Front Shock & Spring assemble came in at approx. 14 lbs each
OEM Rear Shock & Spring assemble came in at approx. 16 lbs each
Total combined = 60 lbs
D2 Racing Front Coilover assemble came in at approx. 10 lbs each
D2 Racing Rear Coilover assemble came in at approx. 9 lbs each
Total combined = 38 lbs
OEM Exhaust System (2 sections)
Front-Mid section = 33 lbs
Rear Axle section = 37 lbs
Total = 70 lbs
PTS - 304 Stainless Steel Dual Exhaust (4 sections)
Front X-pipe = 16 lbs
Mid section = 19 lbs
Rear axle sections = 29 lbs
Total = 64 lbs
So basically, right now I am right around 28 lbs for weight reduction.....
(just by swapping out the coils & exhaust)
I also checked to see if my wheel & tire combo weighed more than stock setup.. Too my happy surprise, the total combined number did not...
Brand New setup with Bridgestones (50 miles)
OEM Front Rim & Tire = approx. 49.5 lbs each
OEM Rear Rim & Tire = approx. 53.5 lbs each
Total = 206 lbs
Used setup with Yokohamas (16,000 miles)
Five Axis Front Rim & Tire = approx. 50.5 lbs each
Five Axis Rear Rim & Tire = approx. 52 lbs each
Total = 205 lbs
I am going to add the battery swap to my "things to do list"...
To be honest, I hadn't really put much thought into the whole weight reduction thing..
Just happy to know its getting LIGHTER....
Regards,
Joe Z

Some of you guys are thinking of removing the sound deadening? Wow, that's pretty hard core (and a lot of work), just to save some weight.
This topic has been covered before in some other thread.
Odyssey battery 25+ lbs savings
JoeZ exhaust 6 lbs
Remove spare tire, jack, tools, carpet 30+ lbs
JoeZ installed coilovers and saved 22 lbs
Two piece rotors will save 12+ (3-5 lbs each rotor)
NO MOONROOF 45 lbs
Lighter wheels 20-40 lbs (5-10 lbs each)
Total: 160-183 lbs
The IS250 steering column swap is interesting.
How about a lighter drive shaft?

And I know I'll take some flak for this, but removing the airbags would probably net about 100 lbs as well.

If your truely hardcore and the F is not a daily driver I can see people doing this, but it more than likely would be done with a complete interior gutting. Wouldn't want to see this being done on a car that is still being commuted in for the safety of all that ride. Not to mention your insurance would probably hold you liable for any injuries incurred.

Where can we find a CF sunroof replacement?
Edit: Googling yields this company, but not sure if they're around anymore or if they would make anything for the ISF

Track cars don't need a dash pad, air bags, a/c, or a whole lot of other crap. How stripped is the car?

Also pics of your interior?

So if we wanted to put in some Recaros we would need custom made rails? Where would one go to even get them made? I would love to see pics of your interior. I'm curious what it would look like stripped out.

Don't ya just love it? Always tryin' to put the car on a diet and forgetting that the driver could be the biggest improvement after all! If you weigh in on the north side of 200# I'd consider hiring a tiny person to drive your car for you!
