If you listen closer, you'll hear the same inconsistent tick like Salil022's video. Mine isn't as loud, however there is an inconsistent sound heard more around the wheel well area.
That is exactly what i thought...Metal clicking sound on my IS-F around the wheel well seems much more louder than nicholas Is-f (ngl) for some reason...I called my dealership today and told the mechanic that i have posted video on clublexus and members agree about the sound being not normal...He was just like i cannot do anything about the sound since it sounds normal to him and lexus rep!!
I noticed that I also have the sound both you guys are having, its very minimal but similar.
I did not have it before but heard it just today.....I have 4000 miles and had the car since march 08 (I drive it 1-2 times a wk).
Could it be from not driving it often?
wow! dude that does sound bad! they sould replace the engine or something! thats bad mine is not loud at all but i do heard a small noise but u have to lift the hood and get close! sorry bro!
I agree sound is very bad...People come up to my car and they are like your car is making some strange noise!! I am still waiting for the lexus rep to get back to me..I will probably make a dvd for that video and play that in the car and let them hear it.
Ticking sound is normal due to direct injection...But the METAL CLICKING sound is not normal...That metal clicking sound can be heard by the wheel well.

Well I spent about 10 minutes with my engine this morning...
We all clearly have the Injector ticking sound, which is very prominent with the hood open and in the area next to the brake fluid reservoir. Normal.
I definitely do not have that "inconsistent" tapping sound that you guys are hearing near the driver side wheel area..
It almost sounds like its coming from the exhaust manifold or something...
What I would like for one of you to do is, try giving the gas pedal a few light revs while hearing that sound... It would be interesting to see if the sounds speeds up with the revs or if it stays the same or if it disappears..
Also, lets see what happens to that sound when you put a load on the engine.
Example: Switching from Park to Drive, but just sitting on the brake pedal.
Regards,
Joe Z
