MKIVOWNER
you probably will have the same east coast factory rep as I did...
Hope all comes out well
Keep us posted It took about a week after they took pics of my wheels and then asked me to drop the car off and leave it with them...
I don't recall the fellows name but I will try to get it..
Respects

By the way I ordered New Tires to go with the new wheels...
PS2's
Save on mounting balancing
the rear had 3/32 tread left and the front had 5/32
plus I had a small cut in the sideway of one of the rears...

Around $360
rears were a little more throufg the dealership...

16500 miles

I called them last week and was quoted $1,100 (fronts) plus around 20 bucks for shipping. Maybe they were lying to me and quoted me the wrong price? That can't be good for business

Some months ago I started noticing pitting on my wheels. I complained one time and the dealer service rep took pictures and sent them to the Factory rep. I was told yesterday to bring the car in and leave it because the factory rep would be today...
Well to my suprise he agreed to replace all 4 wheels as a GOOD WILL gesture.
Of course I was pleased but also disappointed.
My comments went as follows..
I bought a 60K car where brake dust causes wheel pitting.
I think Lexus engineering needs to evaluate and perform RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and determine exact cause.
He then informed me that he contacted the entire East coast Factory reps and found no similar occurance.
I drive 100 miles to and
from work every day and I now Have 16K miles since March, this may be why nobody else has observed this problem.

I was also told that I was not cleaning the wheels often enough and that replacing the wheels was a one time offer....

Thse wheel as you all know are very expensive and I suggest all forum ISF owners watch and complain at the fist sign of pitting/rust
I clean the wheels and the car at least once per week every week.

Hope this is informative...

By the way thanks to this forum and reading the posts got me looking closely at my $2200/a piece wheels
Thanks
Thanks for the headsup.....I'll certainly watch more closely now...
Glad to hear the dealer stepped up.

Colin.

i washed my car today.

heavy rust like deposits ("lumps" / "specks") were in all of the pockets on the front wheels, some on the rear.

what this looks like to me is that brake dust residue collects on the wheel, then oxidizes and bonds to the rim.

i did use one of the foam-type wheel cleaner products... which i noticed didn't do a damn thing to cut the oxide residue from the brakes... i betcha that stuff had something to do with the rust flakes/specks.

i did manage to get most of them off, but only b/c i have a scothbrite like sponge brush i use to clean wheels with.

i'll get it documented on my 1000 mi look.

Nice to know Lexus will step up. I sure hope they do if other owners have the same issue.
Let's hope they improve their wheels to help or cure this suceptiblility to pitting.

Wow: Dealer cost = $7824.78USD! At today's exchange rate, that's close to $10k CAD and b4 dealer markup....
That would make a hell-of-a-dent in anyone's wallet....
You have to figure they'll solve that issue PDQ....

Sounds bad....hmmmm.
......your cleaning with any kind of abrading material -- won't that take the protective surface of the wheels and make things worse?????

Wow. It looks like we're going to have to watch these wheels very closely, and try to keep them clean of any brakedust that quickly builds up on them.
That's going to be a PITA....and perhaps impossible to keep ahead of.

I'll certainly be talking to my dealer about it in the spring.....

I too have wheel pitting on mine...I have sent pictures to my rep at Westside Lexus in Houston, TX. I have purchased several cars through them and they have always treated me well and done right by me, so I'm hoping for the same outcome as many of you have had. I will update you all once I have an answer...
