DIY Stock Intake Mod

This mod looks almost identical or very close to the method K&N uses when installing their intake for our cars.

I finally did this mod and I loved it for a about a week, then went back to the original sittings. The only reason I went back is the fact that I love my Lexus for being a Lexus and would like it to behave like one.
I can always make it rev and scream when needed.

I did this mod about 8 months ago, and just recently my car has developed an annoying rattle in the dashboard during acceleration in the 2,500-3,500 rpm range. When I put it back to normal the rattle is completely gone. I wonder if part of the reason Lexus did the dual-stage intake is because during testing they noticed that the roar of the intake in the lower rpm range caused a rattle in some vehicles. Anyone else experiencing this?

I just did this mod to my 09. I unplugged the connector and went for a drive. The car felt and sounded nicer. However after I parked her and then came back to start her up I had a CEL and the display indicated that vsc needed attention.
I'm pretty sure I unplugged the right connector as it is the only electrical connection above the solenoid vac hoses.
I turned off the car and restarted going through the cycle 4 times and now the cel is gone.
Just so that I know I'm not an idiot or to confirm I'm an idiot can someone pls post a pic to show the right connector to unplug. Thanks.

What is the difference between doing this mod and installing a K&N cone filter...besides takeda, most open type cone filters will require us to remove the entire oem intake box right? Which includes the vacuum thing on the intake...so is there a difference between doing this mod and installing a cone filter?

Sorry to bump an old thread just didn't want to get the usual " try the search button" reply.. But i did this today and wanted to find out if anybody else has done this for awhile.. Any bad experiences? Other than your neighbors shouting "quit it!!" Everytime you rev your car in your garage before pushing the off button..
