Just finished doing this. Took longer than expected. I hardwired it to the fusebox, fuse #13 on the driver's side. The problem was where to ground the thing. There's a big nut that held the fuse box, but it couldn't turn it at all. With limited space down there, I couldn't get a good grip on it to turn it. I ended up using duct tape and taping a long exposed strip of the wire to a metal piece on the lower left side of the dash behind an access panel (in the pic below - taken from the hardwire installation thread)
I might have to pick a different fuse #. Fuse 13 is for the seat heaters. It's 15amps. If you have the heater on when you start the car, there won't be enough power to the detector. I need to find a 20 or 30A fuse instead that is only one when the ignition is on.
