Default Interesting IS-F info

OK, I'll try this again. I'm hearing from my source that the F will be offered in colors other than the familiar bright blue, pearl white and dark red. Also silver, black and graphite. At least one interior color other than the white-faced seats seen in most early F pictures is back with blue piping. Options include sunroof DELETE, nav and nav with ML, accident avoidance, cruise control sonar and headlight washers. Pricing at $55K base, short of $60K for a loaded car, which -- not surprisingly -- will be the way most are brought in. Now for the news that will disappoint some -- horsepower rating is said to be 408.

Welcome to CL, and thanks for the info! Most of it squares with the rumors and leaked info we have been hearing.

The horsepower news, if true, will not be a disappointment to some. It will be a dissappointment to almost everyone. Check out the poll (expectations):

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=293958

According to that thread, only about 8% of the people in the poll (last time I checked) believe the horsepower will be at the level your source told you. Over 90% believe it will be higher than that.

Another 1.5 liters (42%) and only 102 hp (33%) over the 2GR-FSE? That would be pathetic.

The hp numbers don't add up. 408hp is 82hp/liter. The IS350 is cranking out 87hp/L without the high flow heads, free flow exhaust and performance tuning of the IS-F. At the minimum, I would expect the F to match the 350's hp/L ratio giving it an output of 432hp.

The 508hp Merc 6.2L generates 82hp/l and doesn't have the benefit of direct injection. Color me skeptical of the rumored 408hp number and downright disappointed if it is true.

Your source is incorrect. HP WILL be over 408.

I would be disappointed for sure, but once again, HP is not the end all to everything. HP and TORQUE make up the performance. Given enough low end torque, to power the IS to 60mph in 4.2s let's say, could be done with just 408hp.

You know, since I've already ordered my F, I hope you are right. Even though my "source" is very close to the source.

Nothing personal, but there have been way too many people posting on the forums here about knowing a source who's got the IS-F HP and torque numbers.

We have confirmation from Flipside909 (according to his sources) that the car will have over 414HP and that all other numbers being given to Lexus employees are fake. His sources are very reliable as they've proved themselves in the past.

It also does not make any logical sense that the engine would make 408HP, given all that we know about the engine and all of the performance tuning that has gone into it. 408HP just doesn't make sense; it's too low.

Again, hopefully you are correct. Without divulging MY source, he is one of Lexus' top four regional officers and it would seem doubtful his bosses are lying to him. But stranger things have happened in Corporate America. And again, since I'm not planning on racing my F, I will enjoy it for what it is and not agonize over what it isn't.

And, at the risk of being labeled as redundant and just another uninformed poster, Lexus has an IS-F site lexus.com/isf/

This would not be the first time Toyota is using fake numbers. Using fake information minimizes any leaks of the *real* specs, and it also confuses and frustrates the competition.

Before the new Tundra came out, Toyota used fake HP numbers during prototype testing and during the first test drives and comparisons for Toyota employees.
