Default 2008 Isf

One of the regulars on the roadfly.com BMW M3 board posted about being in a focus group reviewing the ISF- the V8 IS. This guy has been a reliable source on that board since 2001, when I started going there. Before I returned to Japanese cars, I had a 2002 M3.

I wrote for more info, but have not heard back yet. Anyway, this must have been in southern California since he is from the Irvine area. He reports it as a probable challenger to the next M3. Said it has a 5 liter 420 HP V8. Weighs 3800 lbs. Has the 8 speed auto from the new LS.

I know this info has been floating around, but this seems to be confirmation of the V8 IS for the US. I will post any more info he provides.

My gosh that's heavier than even the 3,748lbs GS430. I guess they added some dead weight in the ISF's trunk to balance the front-to-rear weight distribution (the IS350's ratio already being 52/48) instead of adopting some lightweight materials in the front. (like the plastic fenders in the 335i )

So, do you guys think that it's going to have a good weight distribution or it'll be off?

Would be nice too see this as an AWD version, or slightly bias RWD.

Ouch, 3800 lbs...
Oh well, if they can add a few more horses too it, and get a rear biased mechanical gear diff'd AWD, I'd be willing to accept a 60/40 split on weight quite nicely.

^^ It looks nice running around the ring, but anyone else think that exhaust note is really quiet for a car thats suppose to compete with the M/RS/AMG/CTSv?? I just didnt get excited for this as I do for the others.

Although this is just a video filmed from a distance, I remember watching the RS4 lap the ring and that thing sounds MENACING!!!

But who am I kidding. This is Lexus. Smooth and quiet has to be thrown in there right??!!

Lexus Confirms “F” Performance Cars
IS-F, concept to bow at the Detroit show.
by Marty Padgett (2006-12-06)

2007 Lexus IS 460

Lexus confirms that its new performance range of vehicles will bear "F" badges, and will make their first showing at the 2007Detroit auto show in January. The new range is being pitched as a competitor for Mercedes' AMG and BMW's M brands.

The "F" range will make its debut with the 2008 Lexus IS-F, a high-powered version of the existing compact sedan. Lexus also promises a concept car in the "F" idiom for the show, which opens to the media on January 7.

The IS-F, Lexus says, will feature unique styling and a "substantial boost in power from a V-8 powerplant that will captivate performance car enthusiasts when it goes on sale next year." Spy shots published by TheCarConnection earlier this year suggest that the car could borrow a version of the 380-hp V-8 found in the new LS 460 sedan.

The unveiling will take place on January 8 at Cobo Hall.
God news!!
