Default 22k for 2008 IS-F with 102k Miles

Hello, I'm in the market for a 2008 IS-F. I found one with 102k miles for 22k. Test drove it. It seemed mechanically sound. Shifted just fine with no issue. The engine looked clean. Coolant levels seemed fine cold and hot and besides rock chips and some scratches it seemed ok.

My question is how reliable will a 102k IS-F be? I'm coming from a 2013 Scion FRS with 75k miles.

The dealer doesn't have previous owner maintenance only what they have done. (oil change & basic fluids I believe). I will be taking it to a Lexus dealer if I get preapproved for the appropriate amount so I can get a proper assessment of everything. Glad to hear that 102k is barely anything for this car!

Plug the VIN in here and you can see if there is history

I bought mine for a similar price with 98k I believe. I now have 112k with nothing major besides routine maintenance and the rock chips due to mileage and previous owner. I do have to replace my shocks on the passenger side but I bought full coilovers instaead of going back to OEM. Small normal maintenance and a little bit of extra maintenance on tires/brakes if you drive the car the way it was designed for. Get a newer model if you could for some updated features but i love my 08.

The only notable issue was the TPM on one of the tires appears to be broken.

I did this, there is a gap in maintenance 5000-30000 miles, and from 35000-92000 miles. Shouldn't there be x mile maintenance's performed by Lexus?

I think the price is right in line. Actually slightly better than some others I've seen. I say get a PPI and if all is well get it!

What that could also mean is that the services were performed off-books. Did you see any major recalls being done is what they were saying you should do since those recall services are either done for free or at a steep discount.

My car will have huge gaps as I do my own maintenance outside of things I can't such as tranny fluid change

could have gone outside of dealership for oil changes. Make sure there is no coolant leaks around radiator plastic tanks and water pump area with that kinda mileage. I think lots of 08 had waterpump replaced before warranty , check if this had been From done. 08 suspension rides harder but coilovers can solve the ride quality.

^^^^And then there are guys like me Lexus has changed my oil or done service exactly ZERO times in the 8+ years I have owned my F. I have done everything myself, and I keep an Excel spreadsheet of every service or modification that I have done.

Nothing wrong with doing it yourself, but remember if you do some business with your dealer and build a good relationship if something happens out of warranty say a week or month I'm sure they will take care of it as good grace for the fact you were servicing your car there. It's also a bonus when you sell your car and show records done at Lexus , that buyer will most likely go for a car serviced at Lexus then one without service records or from some Indy mechanic, different strokes for different folks. I know sometimes the workmanship is not any better from certain Lexus dealers but it's the fact person buying from you may not know that himself. When my warranty is up I'll be doing it myself just like you since I like to work on cars my self. Sometimes life is busy young kids family it's easier to go to dealer get it done there and get a loaner if you need to go run errands or test drive their new offerings.

^^^^Yep, You are right. And, I have built a GREAT relationship with the parts manager at the dealer. He's a car guy, and whenever I call, the call always seems to last 30 mins or so. When my wife died, 3 years ago, I really didn't feel like selling her car myself and contacted management at the dealer. They gave me a fair price her ES. So yes, they know me
