Lightbulb USB IS-F vs Dakar F80 M3

I had a buddy stop by yesterday to chat about cars and seeing his car really makes me miss my IS-F. I love the M3 but something about a Japanese V8 muscle car remind me how much I love JDM too!

USB and Dakar are two quite stark contrasting colors, both are super rare and both really "pop" in person!

Enjoy the pics!

I just drool every time I see a F80 M3. I think they look great in every color. Also can't beat USB on a F either. Have you gotten a chance to drive it yet?

I thought that was funny because the title of the thread is a little misleading (clickbaitish), and thought there were some new runs that had been shot or something lol......

By the way OP I got your S4play diffuser and like the subtle touch it gives the back end

Drive which car? I used to own a SFP IS-F so I know the car quite well. Irony is I bought it for the future family but at the time had no kids! Ended up selling the IS-F and went back to a e90 m3, then a few S4's before coming back to another M3.

I think I did a write-up somewhere else on this forum about the stark contrast differences between the IS-F and M3's. Lexus definitely did something right when they built the IS-F since it's the perfect undercover beast + Daily Driver. The 8-speed auto was not liked by some but I feel it's the best tranny to have for street driving and MPG on the highway. The only drawback to the earlier model IS-F was the choppy suspension but that was easily cured with a set of KWV3's I had installed.

here's a pic of my old SFP IS-F along with some of her garage mates:

We were lacking drivers that day and short on time but will do some pulls and a video once I help him install his JoeZ exhaust

USB is such an awesome color even when the car is dirty!

Will ask my friend to join this site as well

Didn't drive the F80, but did drive the M4:

More planted and solid, but that's always the feel from a BMW M car. Acceleration feel is instantaneous...I mean, instantaneous. I can't fathom driving a TT V8 such as the M5 or X5 or X6 M, those have got to feel like a goddamn rocket.

I'll say this, though. Coming from owning only JDM cars, I think European cars have unnecessarily complicated system controls on the dash. On top of that, the cluster feels outdated as these are supposedly the cutting-edge models with HUD and a gazillion sensors. Yet, no true TFT digital display in its entirety (notifications are, though) and the ICE system takes a while to get a grip on. I mean, for God's sake, it's a $80K car, please make it more intuitive for average turds like me. Also, the launch control is like the construct of the tesseract in the Interstellar; the bloody thing just takes forever to engage.

All in all, I still prefer my ISF. Note that both vehicles were test driven at the time of purchase and I had no driven neither prior to the purchase.

I've had a few R8's but ready to move onto a new toy, the v10 R8 with the gated shifter is the crown jewel and everything the NSX should have been. I'm a big fan of naturally aspirated engines and this old generation R8 was the perfect mix with a v10 and the manual tranny. It's too bad all the big name companies have given up on manuals except for Porsche.

thanks man ~my wife and I got married years ago in the NSX and it's a forever keeper that will one day be handed to my kids. There are hundreds of photos of this NSX all over the web so I won't flood this thread with pics but if you want to see more, check out the build thread over on NSXPrime:

Dear Santa, toys for my NA2 White NSX ~

Love the sound of a V10, R8 is on my third vehicle list. Nice collection. I loved my NSX, sold it years before the prices skyrocketed but still made a profit.

A few better pics in daylight after we wrapped the rear lower bumper section in 3M carbon vinyl - now it really sets off the rear end much better!

Next up for him is the JoeZ exhaust and KWV3's and some proper wheels!
