Default First time at the track. Really high times, is something wrong?

So first time to the track with the ISF, kind of disappointed. there should be something wrong with my car or maybe the driver. yesterday I did a few Runs in two groups. I´m aware that the reaction times and the 60 feet are not good, but doing 14 seconds in most of the runs doesn't seems to be ok.

Maybe it was the 93º temp, or that i had ¾ of fuel and that i didn't remove the spare wheel, but i did added octane booster and reseted the ECU. I Just hooked the techstream to check on the KCLV and below 3.4k RPM´s is at 14 and above is at 15.1, so i suppose it was fine yesterday.

This was my first time back on the strip since back in 2001 when a had a all-motor B16A tuned civic that had a clutch, so yesterday to launch an automatic was a new experience and kind of complicated, specially controlling the wheelspin with some crappy Hankook Evo tires inflated to 30psi.

Most of the times, launch was from idle, foot on brake, other one on the accel pedal and just step on it. I ran on sport, ESP full off and manual. I did tried with ESP partially off and on non-sport, could feel any difference, nor it was seen on the times.

Its important to mention that the 13.7 was done on the first run down the track at 1045am so weather was about 88º (it was not as hot, as it got warmer later)

Attached you see a table with the results. Next action, take it to the dyno and see if its on a reasonable HP and TQ numbers for a stock (only a AFE drop in element).

I need to understand if there is something wrong, besides the driver……..

BTW, im at sea level.

Magazine times for a stock car were anywhere from 13.0 to 12.6 and anywhere from 109mph to 113.3mph....so yeah it does seem like something is off.

How far after you reset your ECU did you run? Your car needs time to adjust the timing maps.

Reaction times do not matter for 1/4 times.

The '60 Foot time shows how much traction you are getting. Yours looks pretty bad. What tires are you running and at what pressures?

I've found that gently rolling out then putting your foot into it is the best (for me at least), use manual mode and kiss the limiter...

Your kclv level is too low right now. Get it up to 19 or so and try again.

Seems like a combination of real bad traction and the fact you resetted your ecu. Causing your KCLV to plummet. I'm a novice when it comes to drag racing. All my time slips have been posted in the drag section for comparison. I recall doing a 13.5 @ 108mph w/ exhaust, my first time. I had no clue of anything, within months I dropped my time to 12.6 @ 112, I believe.

60' is atrocious. Given better traction(thusly a better 60') and a proper KCVL, you will be right where you should be.

If your plugs are bad change them. My car pulls harder than anything I've seen in three years of ownership after new plugs.

First, your 60 ft times are not as good as it would but I don't blame you. My best 60 ft time was 2.1 and got 12.8 @ 113 mph with just an exhaust. Get those 60 ft times lower and you will get better 1/4 mile time.

Secondly, your KCLV is low. Get it close to the 20s or over and you will see a different side of the F.... Mine currently sits @ 24.1

8,500 miles.

here is a video on one run against a friend F80 with exhaust. I had an awful launch, but he kept opening the gap.

You shouldn't be losing like that. Get that kclv up and give it another go.

Why did you reset your ecu?

Yeah, those times are whacked. I've never even seen a 13s on the time slip, even on completely botched runs.

You just need more seat time. The 60ft times are pretty bad

Your MPH is way low. MPH is directly linked to horsepower, and you are running on the low end for power. Resetting your ECM probably was not in your best interest. Also, you don't say where you are located, but be sure you are getting decent quality fuel. If the fuel isn't up to snuff, nothing will fix your times or trapspeeds.

Even cutting those 60ft times down to a perfect 2.0 is only likely to gain him a second in the 1/4 which is still >13s.

And, how much seat time do you need to run an automatic in a straight line??

I've reset my ecu on the dyno and manged to still get 370whp on the default 15 KCLV with just I/E/T @ altitude. I'm sure it would be better for the car with higher KCLV but it didn't hurt it completely.Something else is going on.
