Default TIPS! HELP. replacing header manifolds tmrw

as title states going to be changing out my cracked headers for a used set of factory headers of a 2012 with 40k miles. either this wknd or next. went to my local lexus dealership in tampa fl and tech said i wouldnt have to remove subframe or steering shaft etc. can anyone chime in on this? yes i have access to a lift. i know everyone removes subfame when installing aftermarket headers but is it necessary for factory as well as they are smaller

i am 100% sure you have to remove the subframe, there is no space to take a header out without it, aftermarket or stock.

Got to the sikky or ppe website. They have install instructions for their aftermarket headers. You can follow those steps for removal and install. Yes you have to remove the subframe.

Why waste your time replacing with OEM headers that will just crack again?

I think he probably thought you bought OEM headers for full price or something. Usually when members are going to go through all the work to take out the stock headers, might as well upgrade to full race headers unless you have warranty.

I completely understand why you want to replace them with the $200.00 OEM ones you got.

However, think about this....your time is very very valuable....you can't get time back, but you can always make more money and a dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow.

I would seriously suggest putting in a nice aftermarket header that won't crack.

You are going to spend time working on the car, smack up your knuckles, get frustrated, disconnect steering shaft, dropping subframe, putting it all back, then getting an alignment...

Do it once and cry once.

I agree also on doing the aftermarket headers at once. But it seems that the $200 are for used factory headers, so I would try to find some used aftermarket header for half the price and install them
