Default "Sport" button 2011+

Sorry for the novice question, as I'm looking into getting into an IS-F sometime soon, I found that the 2011+ models have a Sport button on the steering wheel. What does this do? 08-10 models have a Mode switch by the push button (also on steering wheel on all year models) but is that essentially the same thing?

I'm assuming since Lexus refreshed the 2011+ year models from the 08-10 (headlights, gauge cluster, seats, suspension, LSD, etc.) that they probably added in the Sport button for a more engaging drive experience between Normal, Sport, Sport + (or something along those lines). Is that correct? Just trying to get some clarification here.

With close to 3,000 posts on this forum, you should be able to use the search function to answer your questions.

But your answers are:

The sport button was moved from the dash (Lower right) of the steering column to the steering wheel (Right side) in, I believe, 2011. The Mode button (left side) of the steering wheel controls the sound system modes. You may be interested in this:

Sport button increases throttle mapping, changes transmission behaviour, firms up the steering (by dialing back the power assist steering), and also changes parameters in the traction/stability control system to allow just a bit of slip. It all adds up to allowing the car to feel much more responsive and in control.

These days, we want sport but we also want luxury and refinement, and when the IS-F is in normal mode (default), the steering is light and relaxing, the throttle is docile and smooth, the transmission shifts smoother and more economically, and the traction is really keeping the rear end in check. It's nice to have a car that can do both, and one that can switch so fast between moods. This is most likely the reason the sport button was put right where you can see it and access it easily, because you'll probably want to use it all the time.
