Default E85 availability in Canada

Hello all
After reading a tread on mixing E85 in our F's, I reached out IGPC Ethanol Corp. for some answers to E85 market availability.
Here is their response with gas stations that sell E85 fuels listed. Niagara location sells E30 and the one in Vancouver ship E85 by a drum.

Dear Mr.........

Thank you for your message. IGPC Ethanol Inc. and Renewable Industries Canada (RICanada) - the national voice of the renewable fuels industry - have been advocating for alternative fuel stations with provincial governments and the federal government for some time. While there are nearly 4 million flex fuel vehicles on Canadian roads, there are only a handful of stations in the entire country that sell E85:

* Ottawa - MacEwen Petroleum on Catherine Street
* Gales Gas Bar in Niagara Falls, which sells E30 not E85
* Vancouver - Arcade Fuels 4370 Marine Drive Vancouver (they'll ship E85 anywhere in Canada in drums)

We have been told that these ones are selling but we are not sure if they are still selling E85:

* UPI between Guelph and Cambridge on Highway 24
* UPI Chatham - at 335 Park Avenue East

Selling flex fuel vehicles without higher ethanol blends being available for purchase doesn't make sense - and is misleading to consumers who may think they're benefiting the environment by driving one of these cars. I recommend you send a letter to your local member of Parliament to encourage adoption of flex fuel in Ontario and across the country. Consumers need to have a choice, and it's people like you that raise their voices who will spearhead change that benefits the country as a whole.

Please let me know if you send a letter to your MP. RICanada will then follow up with you and your MP.

Again, I thank you for reaching out to IGPC. Please feel free to contact me should you have any other questions.

Regards,

^^^ that's exactly what it is, USA has close to 3000 gas stations that sell E85. For a population that is aprox 9 times greater then population of Canada we should have at least 300 gas stations that would have e85 avail. Not 3 possibly 5.
Anyway, it's interesting to see how our gas market is corrupt.

That's crazy man! Money talks, If there is enough demand, I would assume and there would be a supply. A drum would be beneficial... but you'd have crate shipping with a hazardous materials permit, I'm sure wouldn't be too cost effective.

Nope, I wish just 91 is the highest you can get here in Colorado & California Hence the reason we are searching for higher octane alternatives unfortunately.

thats false the US government heavily subsidizes E85 ($0.45-$0.55/gallon) other wise it would not at all be economical, it has to do with our government/taxpayers choosing not to subsidize. It is however mandated that our fuel is E5 but it's actually most common blended as E10 which is commonly referred to the ideal blend for all cars (non-flex fuel) to still function properly.

Your MPGs would actually drop with an E85 since E85 requires about 30% more than premium pump fuel. Some slight blends claim a couple mpgs higher which may be possible since you can run a little leaner due to less heat generated which is also the reason forced induction cars can run more boost/timing with E85. I wish we could get it as well but unless the government starts subsidies it won't be anytime soon.

Most people go out go out of their way to find ethonal free fuel, this site has some good info and lists ethonal free fuel availablity
