Wanted to update for those of you thinking about mixing at sea level.

I am running about E25 (maybe slightly less) and the car feels very, very strong. My initial impression was "its ok" - but now that the ECU has had time to learn, the increase feels pretty dramatic IMO - especially in throttle response.

i put in 2 gallons in to be safe as a first try. i'm going for more after this tank! 2 gallons of e85 did not make much of a difference

Careful when mixing, you need to be pretty close to dry before you you mix again.

I did 3 gallons E85 and the rest 93 - it took a little while for the change to become apparent.

What changes have you noticed? Are you logging KCLV/timing?

Have not logged - the cable I bought on ebay did not like my laptop.

I am noticing better throttle response and increased mid-high end torque. Of course without the data, that means little..

I think the best way to describe the difference is how the car drives on a really hot humid day vs how it drives in a dry cool morning.

Good to hear that you are feeling the results of the splash blending!

I can't find e85 anywhere near me. I've looked them up online and drove to a few only to find out the don't sell it anymore. I am in Charlotte, NC. Pro Dyno, a mustang shop in Fort Mill, SC sells 5 gallons for $50...I thought it was suppose to be cheap?!

try downloading Alt Fuel app on your phone it has the latest on e85 gas stations that have it available. it is pretty cheap but if no one has it then price goes up (supply and demand)

This is true. If that shop has to order it, they will upcharge to sell. You won't get the less than $2 a gallon price unless you can find a retail pump that carries it.

I'm in charlotte also...good to see another local on the boards. Have you tried a gas station on Brookshire off 85? I haven't been there but my searches show they have it.
Please let me know if you ever find it!!!!

Never looked for it, but GasBuddy app has an e85 filter option and shows the Sunoco at 5416 Statesville Rd as having E85 and the BP 8712 Pence Rd as well (has a price listed of $2.29/gal) but these could be reporters putting in prices for the wrong fuel type, so call first

So it looks like Sheetz has it locally....but it's a bit of a hike unless you're in the area
Salisbury 1.83
Troutman 1.75
both have it and I would imagine most Sheetz carry it, but none that close to Charlotte

So is it a bad idea to keep refueling and mixing right when the range hits 0 or should we run the tank more to where it's almost empty every time

When I mix I've calculated how much I need when I'm at 1/4 tank 1/2 tank etc....... Don't think there's a right or wrong way to mix if your empty or have a current blend already sitting in the tank just calculate how much you'll need by how much the tank is sitting at. I can usually calculate up to about +/- 2-3% and be consistent with my blending.

Sometimes your not going to be by an E85 gas station and you might be sitting at say...a 1/4 tank and know your destination will be enough to go through that 1/4 tank, you should just get use to filling up when you have a chance despite what your sitting at and adjust accordingly based on your level. You'll get the hang of it pretty quick
