Default Time for an oil change. I've got some questions.

I'd due for my first oil change since I've had the car. I've been doing some lurking around the interwebs and got a few questions:

1) Anyone use this TRD filter instead of the standard OEM one? Do y'all think its worth it? It says its a replacement for the Toyota 04152-YZZA4 Oil Filter, which is a replacement for ours.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00965DFQ6/ref=pd_luc_rh_sbs_02_04_t_img_lh?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

2) Thinking about getting this tool for the filter, what are your guys' thoughts?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XTAGHU0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AMO9Q84JXX23S

3) I was just going to get regular Mobil 1 5W-30 but has nyone use the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-30? If I did, I should probably get the Extended Performance filter too?
https://www.amazon.com/Mobil-M1C-453-Extended-Performance-Filter/dp/B0031H9FPU/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1473787356&vehicle=2010-75-6787-20--1-6-7-9011-2622-1-1-2838--4-0&sr=1-2&ymm=2010%3Alexus%3Ais+f

I just wanna know if people are really waiting til 10K-15K before doing oil changes and if it is worth it. On my 97 Land Cruiser, I switched to Rotella T6, and although its synthetic, I changed my oil every 5K. And by then, the oil looked pretty dirty.

Thanks guys, I'm about to dish out a good chunk of change and just wanting to spend it wisely.

1, Nope, been using this filter (04152-YZZA4) with no issues. If you're keen on Lexus OEM, go for 04152-51010.

2. Look on E-Bay for TOY640. Guaranteed to fit.

3. Regular Mobil1 5W-30 should be fine. Oil comes to preferences as long as the weight is 5W-30, you are golden. You will need to get your oil tested to figure out the appropriate change interval. Based on Lobuxracer's analysis, can run up to 14k with no issue. Refer to thread here:

Awesome, good to know. So you just reset the warning at 5K every time?

RedLine Oil 5W-30 full synthetic, I drive the car once a week on average, sometimes less. The oil lasts 6-7 months and the car runs beautifully. I've ran Castrol in it before and you can tell the difference.

OEM oil filter.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum - $56 for 10 qts + shipping - K&N oil filter from RRR

I like the way the car runs using this oil but I'm really only comparing it to a conventitional oil change from the dealership. 1/3 of the cost and I don't have to worry about parts going missing.

I daily my ISF so running expensive oils and changing them at 5K would not make my wallet happy. Any other people changing their oils after 10K with success? If ran harder, I would expect to change oils sooner.

Send it off for an oil analysis and they will tell you how well the oil is holding up and they can also give you a heads up if you're having certain problems related to engine performance and longevity.
