I wouldn't say it's common, but it's not rare. I have the permits and plans for may add-on garage & shop. And I'm planning on a lift. I haven't decided between a 2 post or 4 post.

Yes. Its doable as long as you have the ceiling height. I have 12 ' from floor to ceiling. I wanted to use the full height too, so i got a power custom roll up (european style) door. Hence full height, and the isf stays nice and snow free (on the second level on top of the lift) all winter long. Comes in handy when doing tire changes (bridge jack on the lift) , oil etc. Would recommend it.

+1 for the home lift, isfdave86. I replace my headers & suspension from a creeper.

And a portable ac unit for the home of your F, Roe. I can't imagine what 135 f must feel like.

Yeah an additional building was already pooped on by my county. They hate happiness. Otherwise there'd be a lift

Garage looks awesome. It's like an ISF car-cave.

Regarding concrete coatings...

I've had good experiences with this:

You can get it in pretty much any color you want as well. Just make sure you prep really well preferably with a pressure washer and acid wash.

Very nice!

I'm hoping to do something like this with mine at some point, but house needs work before that will happen!

Congrats on the new house and F palace!

My floor already has a gray "garage floor paint" that looks horrible - flaking, peeling, and non-existent under the spots where the car tires sit (I have parking stops installed to position the cars, so they sit very close the same place all the time). Would this require a full strip, pressure wash and acid wash for the coating to adhere? Will it degrade quickly at the tire spots the way the current coating does?

I am planning a huge garage makeover, and I have 12' ceilings (the wife insisted on being able to put a lift in the garage when we bought the house, she hates me working under jack stands), so a lift is definitely part of the plan. I am wondering about coatings now.
