Default My new thick DCTMS F wheel review.

So I've used my new wheel from our forum sponsor DCTMS for about a week now, here is my little review.

This is the new "thick" version, I custom ordered it to match the OEM red leather, perforated grips, solid leather top/bottom with blue stitching and F-Logo.

Turnaround was a little longer than the quoted 5 weeks but it's all good.

A few years ago I had ordered a DCTMS wheel before when I still had my IS350, while it was a great looking wheel I wasn't overly impressed with the thickness nor the "hard" feeling leather so I didn't set my expectations too high.

When my new F wheel arrived and I pulled it out of the box, my first impression was "WOW!" I don't know if DCTMS switched to a new manufacturing method or supplier but the quality of the leather this time around is OEM if not better. It was soft, felt great and the holes for the perforation was REAL. It even has that "New Lexus" smell, build quality and stitching was impeccable.

Next up, in hand feel. The wheel is a bit heavier than my stock 2012 F wheel, the grips at the top and bottom are a little bit thicker also. At the top and bottom feels about as thick as an E9x M3 wheel, which was the thickness I was going for and they nailed it. The side grips at the 9 and 3 are MUCH thicker, feels fantastic and very comfortable. Keep in mind I'm comparing it to my 2012 wheel, so if you compared it to the thinner 08-10 F wheel, the difference would be even more noticeable.

Overall, this was one of my favorite mods for the ISF to date, it almost transforms how the car feels in a good way, most likely my last mod also since I have a new toy to put mod money into.

DCTMS and Ivan gets thumbs up all around.

Great review....thanks for the side by side comparison pics! Just to clarify, you did not specify the thicker size but that is the size of the new GEN2? I plan on getting the exact same wheel except for the blue leather on the bottom. Would you mind sending me a PM with the price you paid? 5+ weeks turnaround time.... I should probably order mine ASAP.

That looks really good - I have the all leather Gen 1 DCTMS wheel, which I love but wished it was thicker.. I might look into this ASAP.

I need to do this. I love the thickness of my M5 steering wheel and it has made me really hate my wimpy 08' ISF sterring wheel.

Every time I see one of these threads about thick, flat-bottomed F wheels, I want one.

It's your connection with the car.

Trying... to... resist spending more money... arrrraghhhhhhh

Amazing increase in the thickness. From a driving perspective, I can see how the thicker wheel will be advantageous. It really does look nice too. Ergonomic and solid- an example of an individual mod that most won't see, but the driver can surely feel and enjoy.

Good review and nice comparison photos. This is going on the list of things to-do.
