ISF low gear, low speed whine
Does anyone else notice their ISF makes what I think sounds like a transmission whine through the first few gears? I mostly notice this during normal daily driving through the first few gears then it's not as apparent. Reminds me of the transmission on my previous IS 350 which seemed to be whiny, especially in low gear. I usually have the stereo on and don't notice any noises, but recently had it off and the whine caught my attention. It's not real loud, and hardly notice it when going full throttle b/c the engine and exhaust drown it out. Don't notice any abnormal shifting, acceleration, going into reverse, etc.. Can hear it in auto and manual mode through the first few gears, mainly 1 & 2. Probably me just being a little too OCD and need to just keep the stereo volume up.

Probably your pulley an tensioner getting old . I think many have mentioned this . Sounds like a super charger lol. Do you also have the belt slip noise at redline ?

Kinda thought that might be the problem, just see so many mention it at higher rpms and not during normal dd. Haven't heard the belt slip noise but I've read about and seen lots videos showing it.

What you're describing here sounds EXACTLY what my car started to do recently. I only recently noticed it and it does sound like transmission noise & a supercharger whine. I suspect the tensioner and will request it be looked at when it's in next.

Let me know what you find out. Going to have mine checked out next time it's at the dealer as well. What's the mileage on yours? I've got 76,000 on my 2010.

Are you experiencing any transmission flares? Does it hold gears longer when doing harder turns? If so, it could also be that you are VERY low in transmission fluid. I had that issue and had a master tech serviced it. For me, It was low 2.5 quarts!

I had the whine more so before I replaced my pulley and it stopped as well as the belt slip noise, but the belt slip returned 8 weeks after fix

Alright, definitely been hearing the belt slip noise here lately. Only with the windows down and above maybe 3000 to 4000 rpms or so, makes a swishing sound. Ordered the Dayco belt tensioner and the replacement belt (Bando) from Rockauto for $98 to my door. Know it will possibly only be a temporary fix for the slipping sound, but also hoping it helps reduce the whiny supercharger sound as well.

The transmission's pump also makes a whine noticeable at low speeds in low gears. Sounds like a hydraulic power steering pump. You will never hear it if you don't turn off everything in the car though.
