Default Looking to buy ISF- decisions decisons

So for those out there that have Fs, specifically those that have had 2+, here's my dilemma : my budget it about $30K. I can find '10 all day with 50-60K miles for that. But '11 jump to 37+K. Is the upgraded suspension worth the 5K? My understanding is that that is he only difference. Or would it be better to get a 10 and get a custom suspension coil overs etc for less than $5K? Thoughts?

I do need something fairly comfortable because I will take some random roast trips.

It's worth every penny. You get LSD, better suspension, Headlight, gauge cluster. Test drive them both and see

For just the suspension, not worth it since aftermarket is so plentiful.

For the upgraded diff, yea it's worth it
Plus the minor tweaks like black engine cover (not that expensive) or the upgraded gauge cluster (I think that started in 2011) but I'm jealous of the new cluster and want that, the 2011/2012 headlights are much better.

I love my '08 but I find myself wanting that diff and cluster, already bought the 2012 lights. That being said, it was worth it for the sub $30k price I paid that gives me more room for mods like exhaust, headers, cosmetic stuff, etc...

The 2011's have a much better everything, just off the top of my head:

-Suspension
-Speedometer update with the single big circle instead of two
-2011+ LED strip headlights which are already worth $1,500
-Alcantara seats front and rear

IMO just the seats and the headlights alone make the car look more refined and modern compared to the older non LED headlights. Worth the $$$!

I was in the same situation as you, with a growing family and a realistic budget I do love all the upgrades everyone mentioned, but with that being said I have no regrets with my 08 I bought for 25k with 64,000 miles I also just bought a brand new spare transmission from the marketplace for a grand just for piece of mind. With my car I can put my kids in it and not freak out, and drive it hard *** hell cause it was relatively inexpensive. Bottom line it puts a smile on my face make sure the one you get does the same. Good luck with the hunt.

You'll be happy with an F anyways, but you might as well buy a cheaper one cause you're going to end up modding it..

2011 just popped up in MA, listed at $30k with 85k miles. From Lexus dealer too. Might get lucky if they drop it to $29k maybe.

This is the same dealer who ended up selling 2012 with 50k miles for $34k

I recently bought a 2010 with 52k on it, for $29... I liked the lights and gauge cluster of the 11+. But honestly if you plan to really "race" the car or dog it out regularly, the diff shouldn't really matter. The cars are built very well and last. There's always room for mods. So whatever your budget prefers, go with that. You won't be disappointed either way.

I'd love to have seen the 12 for 34k! but ya I'm liking for lower miles than that.

I'll keep my eyes peeled! :/

I looked around for an IS-F for a whole year before finding the right one. I always wanted a 12+ but couldn't justify the price of them.

At one point of my search, I was about to settle for anything that was around my budget. But the cluster, headlights, shocks, and diff really kept me from pulling the trigger.

I finally saw a 12' white on red pop up and jumped on it. Paid 41k out the door of a dealership and never looked back.

At the end of the day, it comes down to what you want and how much YOU want to spend. But I will tell you I am extremely pleased with my F. Like other said, whatever you go with, you wont be disappointed.

p.s. This might be just me but when i first started looking for 2011+ ISFs, I saw a bunch in the high 30s. Throughout the year, i saw the prices fluctuate up and down. They haven't depreciated much within the year.

Goodluck with your search OP.

Similar experience here,

I looked at and test drove so many I lost track of the total number, everything from '08-'13's. I just liked all of the improvements made over the years, ultimately buying my '13 or 12-15k more than I could have bough an early for, and it only had 7032 miles on the clock.

No disappointments here.

Yup but 85k miles is 85k miles. Means a lot of pricey maintenance things are about to happen. I second that. 2012 for 34k only 50k miles?????

The 2012 one they couldn't sell for like 6+ month. It was listed for $42k at some point. Needed new brakes though and was on winter tires. Managers car.

Just saw 2008 with 70-75k miles for $15k few days ago at Porsche dealership. Not sure if mistake or sold already but can't find it anymore

Well I am sure that was probably a mistake. However, I have seen many car dealership emgaged in bait and switch lately. They will price a car at one site for several thousand less than on another then when you call and say you are interested in it and price is brought up then they send you a link to their dealership where it is higher or another link where it is higher. For instance Tri County Lexus had a 2012 SFP with if I can recall correctly 40k miles listed or $38,999 Certified also. When I sent a message, it became 42,999 and I had to send him a picture of the site because the sales man was arguing that that car was NEVER priced at that point. Smart motors marked up their 2009 by $2,000 after a couple weeks on the web and when I asked the sales man to send some detailed pictures he told me to go look on their site. Wow 2 places I will NEVER do business with.
