Shifting exhaust burble
Hey fellas,
So I just wanted to ask 2 things.. Am I the only person who purposely shifts at certain rpms from 1st-2nd just to hear the burble/popping out of the exhaust.. I hold it around 3k and the shift and let off the gas and it's a Orchestra of amazing noises that are Oh so addicting. Secondly, are there any negatives to doing this... Or that sometimes I hear the loud thud/pop when slowing down but not everytime... What is the true cause of these glorious noises.
Thanks!

It's back pressure being created from the sudden loss of exhaust making it's way out. It's perfectly fine and happens in most larger engines. As long as the pop you're hearing isn't a backfire.

I dont think its an issue. I tend to hold my car at 4k rpm as Im going up the hill in my neighborhood because right at 4k the resonance between the walls on both sides of the road with cinder block walls SOUNDS INSANE. I do it as much as I can. Now that its so hot here I never drive with the windows down.

All right, just was making sure I wasn't the only one addicted to not only the sounds made when romping down on the throttle but also letting off of it. Sometimes when decelerating I get a louuuud pop or thud and other times it doesn't make a sound.. I guess as long as it's not happening when my foot is on the gas I'm in good shape! Man I love this car!
