Default Chopping up oem exhaust for storage

I have limited space for storage at my place.
Is it possible to cut up the oem exhaust similar to how the borla is, and use clamps to piece it back together for smog every 2 years?

Thanks.

Definitely possible. Talk to a reputable exhaust/fabrication shop and they should be able to take care of this for you.

The answer is yes, but not with clamps. Unlike third party systems that use clamps and flanges, there would not be enough material left in the stock exhaust after cutting to attach anything to. You would have to be welded at each cut.

What do you mean by not enough material?

Thx

You can cut the pipes and use Easy Seal sleeve clamps. New 2015+ Mustang resonator delete kits come with them.

Does the borla replace the cats? or is it just a cat back?

Replaces secondary cats

Actually there were two Borla systems. Borla used to make an Axle Back but that seems to be discontinued.

They now only market a cat back back exhaust. That exhaust leaves the primary cats in place (the ones integral with the exhaust manifolds). It eliminates the secondary cats.
