It's a reproduction of the oem system.

Yup, it's pretty close to the OEM part. Since it's not CARB legal, I would assume that the cats are a bit less restrictive, but that's only an assumption on my part. Magnaflow actually makes quite a few Direct Fit parts. The reason is quite simple - They are cheaper than the equivalent OEM part.

Also, unlike the OEM part the Magnaflow part is two pieces. Easier to store and move. This part is also available at many Auto Parts Supply Houses.

I wonder what is the weight of this unit, as OEM is super heavy.

Being that it's a Magnaflow part, I am inclined to think it flows better than the stock midpipe. I have doubt that anyone can confirm that...

It's designed as an oem aftermarket replacement part. I doubt performance was in mind in anyway with this product. Wouldn't bother if you are anticipating gains. Get a XForce for the same price and call it a day.

Hi everyone, thank you for your interest. While we do manufacture performance exhaust systems, our catalytic converters are intended to be a direct replacement for the stock equipment. We do not advertise any increase in flow or power gains by changing to this midpipe, but it may save a few pounds of weight vs. the stock OE system.

Please note that this product meets federal emissions standards, but does not have a CARB EO# for use in California/NY. If there are any other questions we can answer about part# 51508, please feel free to shoot us a PM or call at 1-800-990-0905!

UPDATE: The unit weight is 36lbs and the cats may be less restrictive, but these are not hi-flow cats according to our Magnaflow vendor.

So I got one, it looks totally awesome IMO. Cost $429 delivered (from eBay with $100 off - father's day coupon) These could be the first real photos online. Enjoy :-)
The best part, noticeably it is lighter than OEM, but most importantly, it has the consistent 2.5 inch diameter (unlike the OEM one, which slims out down to two inches in few spots.

NEXT STEP: Ordered couple hi-flow 200cel metal-core Magnaflow cats. COST: $180 delivered. I will have the local muffler shop swap the original cats to make it the " first Magnaflow high performance mid-pipe".
I will post photos of the final product when completed. My SIKKY V2 headers approve this project.

28.5 lbs on the scale before the high flow cats swap (which will be just slightly lighter.) Stock one is around 40 lbs several mentioned here on the forum.
