Gloss is easy to shape... But you nailed it, the matte is less glossy that stock and the gloss is more glossy than stock. To me, the matte blends better after looking at another local f that used the matte tape. Might just be personal preference.

I just installed the glossy one, it looks great.
If I can advice, you MUST stretch the tape when installing to get the proper finish.
So don't be afraid to pull little bit.

Are you guys just running it along the inside edge and then letting the leftover just tuck under the rubber seal or are you trimming that inside and just centering the tape?

I bought the gloss tape last week and kinda messed it up while applying it. There didn't appear to be a top clear layer that needed to be removed like it states. I'm glad I messed it up because it ended up looking too shiny and tacky forcing me to order another roll. Plus I really screwed up the rear window bend and had to use multiple pieces.

This time I bought both styles, glossy and matte. Here you guys can see the difference. Mind you the glossy roll they sent this time has the clear top layer that you remove after it's applied. It ends up only being slightly glossier than the matte tape which ended up working out better for me.

Not perfect but it'll do

You can see a few bubbles here and there but I'm gonna just leave them for now. I believe I have enough to reapply some of the sections but it may require another roll. Given I was sent a different kind of glossy each time I'd rather just leave it than get another roll and not have it match.

Overall at least on a black F I'd say the glossy matches better than the matte.

In the 5th pic down the black out tape makes the front window tint look darker than the rear. Crazy optical illusion. Almost looks like two different car halves put together.

Wow didn't even notice that but now that you mention it, it does make the front window look darker in that 1 pic.

Front what I can tell from the service records the fronts and rears are at different percentages. 35% front 20% rear.

Looking good everyone.

My favorite product by far for plastic is Poorboy's Natural Look. I also use it on my plasti-dipped emblems / grille about once every month. The stuff lasts. Anyway, I find that it turns matte (in the plasti-dip) into the PERFECT gloss after application. Not too much, not too little. Even better than plasti-dip glossifier. Does magic with all the black plastic pieces on the car as well along with the engine compartment.

I used the matte tape after reading this thread and will be applying a thin layer of Poorboy's this week when I wash.
