Default Coolant/Water temp - taking a realllly long time to cool down

Wanted to see if I could get some input from you guys as a search hasn't really come up with anything.

So lately I've been noticing that it takes a really long time for my water temp bars (on the dash) to go down to 0. At first I noticed this during the same time I discovered I had coolant leaking from the valley plate. I took the car in and had that sealed + fresh coolant added, but I'm still noticing that it's takes a really long time for the coolant to cool down, and I'm talking about leaving the car untouched for 3 or 4 hours, and the bar is still half way at operating temps, meanwhile the oil bar is completely at 0.

It hasn't been hot at all in SoCal lately, so I don't think this is attributable to weather. I checked the surrounding of the radiator and there doesn't seem to be a buildup of gunk that decreased air flow. During normal drives on city and highway, the temps are completely fine and don't seem to exceed the normal operating temp.

At this point I'm wondering if there's an issue with other supporting components like the temp. sensor, radiator ran, maybe the water pump? Any help or suggestions on where to start looking would be great. Thanks!

Mine is the same way. I'm sure the temp sensor is closer to the block and all the metal has to cool off in the engine before the coolant temp will lower. In regards to the oil temp the pan has a huge surface area and the oil cools off pretty quickly once the motor is no longer running.

Thanks for the input, maybe I'm overthinking it and the valley leak got me paranoid. I don't remember the coolant taking that long to cool in the past, but maybe I don't remember correctly.

Hey kz. I'm sure it's normal. I haven't paid much attention to how long it takes to cool down but I do notice it warms up quick. I'll have my coolant temp at optimal in about 10 minutes of city whereas my oil temp takes at least 15mins to get moving.

Mines also a 2011 btw.
