Got my oil change done 2,000 miles ago and already have the oil maintenance light come on after 2,000 miles. I still have over 3,000 miles before I am due for an oil change. And also have noticed a drop in fuel economy of 4-5 mpg.

Any ideas on what's going on?

Depending on when you changed it before the most recent one it could just be a failure to reset it, this happened to me once before.

Oil was changed 2,000 miles ago. Also, that doesn't explain the sudden drop of mpg's. Only thing I have made recently was lowering the car.

The oil maintenance light has nothing to do with your oil level or when it was last changed. It has everything to do with being manually reset.

Have no idea on your drop in fuel mileage.

Yes but if the tech who changed it (assuming you didn't do it yourself) forgot to reset the light it could be coming on even with perfectly fine oil, but you are right it doesn't not explain a drop in MPGs unless it started at the same exact time you lowered the car as I've seen several people report that lowering the car improved their MPGs, and several report it lowered them.

btw, your level's about 0.8 qt. low.

The procedure for resetting your oil maintenance light is outlined in the owner's manual. I'd quote if for you, however, my car's a 2008 and the procedure for the updated cluster in your car may be different.
