I think we should combine all the Valley Plate Leak threads in one master thread so everyone's account can be found for reference and to show or point out to Lexus corporate as these leaks become more common, and hopefully there will be a recall for this by Lexus and the guys who have paid for this out of pocket will be reimburse one can hope anyway?

My repair was $1,300 - $500 from Lexus = Total $ 822 on my end with a brand new radiator so I guess you could offset that price a bit more if you want because I didn't pay for that either.

The master tech used a series of mirrors to see the leak without taking anything apart he told me, said it took him less than 1/2 hour to verify that I had the leak. That's why they didn't charge me anything to diagnose the issue because he said that it didn't take him long at all and didn't feel right charging for about 20 min worth of work

^^^^^Just remember though if you want to get a credit/help from Lexus corporate like I did they will want that verification on paper of the diagnosis from the dealership that your going to have it fixed at so it goes through their official channels.

Oh man, this is terrifying for a prospective ISF customer. It seems like coolant leaking is one of the few chronic issues plaguing the ISF. It seems like this issue is consistent across all MY of the ISF. Are there any good DIY's to get this repair done?

I am pretty mechanically inclined and have been working on my cars for more than 15 years. Unless you are a seasoned mechanic, I wouldn't want to take this job on. Its very labor intensive and there are many fragile and expensive injectors you can break in the process. If you have enough "spirit points" Lexus will give you a $500 credit towards the service. Mine cost $2200 at Tustin Lexus and they broke one injector ($300). If you have a good mechanic you trust it could be much cheaper, but considering you have $2400 in injectors that could break I would make sure they are willing to pay for or at least share the cost if they break them.
The good news (hopefully) is it seems like this is the only expensive repair that is somewhat prevalent, and the only other ones you may likely encounter are the radiator leaks and water pump, but that is common on any high mileage car. Only expensive maintenance item you can't do yourself is the valve adjustment and transmission service. I'm taking mine in today for a tranny flush for $400 at Lexus MV,
