Default My I/H/E 2011 F vs My friends 2004 SL55 AMG

Hi guys opinions for fun, my buddy just pick up 2004 SL 55 AMG from The original owner with 40000 miles on it was a friend of ours, he pickup for just 20 k for those who are not familiar with the SL55 AMG it comes with 493 horsepower 516 foot pounds of torque, weight 4313Lbs. Stock SL55 times 0 to 60 in 4.5 second range, quarter mile range anywhere from Low 12.1 to 13 seconds with the average being around 12.5 for most SL55 owners.

The ISF and SL55 are actually pretty close in performer considering the difference in horsepower and torque, the weight of SL55 hurts it. He plans to do,tune, pulley and exhaust, that should really wake it up a bit.

0-60 and 1/4 times seem comparable. His automatic is quite a bit slower than ours so that's a plus. Take him to Mexico and let us know .

My dad has one of these and I am not a huge fan of it. Granted I am not a huge fan of anything when comparing to the F. i am so used to the F transmission and how it rev matches, that I hated the 55's transmission. It is a fast car though. I have done a couple pulls with it and I always hanged with it. A friend of mine has an SL63 and I roll raced him from 60-130mph and we were neck and neck.

And to answer the original question.... If he is stock, my opinion is that you will leave him pretty good. Your car has 500 horsepower too, but you are about 600 pounds lighter. Kind of like how a c6 z06 will leave you on a roll race, because he is about 500 pounds lighter than us.

Yes, transmission is 5 speed slow shifting unit, stock whp seem to be anywhere between 400hp and 410hp and tq 480tq to 490tq . SL 55 is 500lbs heavier than ISF. Going to be interesting time when we go for ride in Mexico lol. We have about same Hp he has more tq, but weight and slow trans of SL . Which is biggest Factor hp vs tq whish is more important or lighter car fast trans vs heavy car slow trans which is biggest Factor?
