Default Dealership declining to install aftermarket parts.

Kinda surprised when I contacted one of my local dealerships for a spring install and they declined to do the work. Here is what they said below:

I looked into it and Lexus does not offer lowering springs for the ISF, unfortunately. Since they don’t offer them I would not recommend doing the lowering due to the fact aftermarket parts could affect your warranty. I’m sorry for the bad news,

It's up to their discretion so it'll vary between dealership. I remember Lexus in Tampa doing a member's (who since sold the car) headers, exhaust, and even installing a full TOM's kit.

yeah, I don't know of any dealer from any make that would install something they don't sell, too much liability

and too expensive.

plenty of after market race shops around.

avoid dealerships if possible. You can buy ton of other mods for what you'll pay extra on their labor prices.

I'm not surprised. Installing nearly any aftermarket parts at the dealership will void warranty on the car; something dealerships do not want to deal with.

Take it to a 3rd party car shop. They'll probably give you better quotes anyway as well.

Got my cat back as well as my fog kit installed at two different dealerships. It largely depends on the mechanics (and service advisors) that are there and how adept they are with aftermarket parts.

Not necessarily true, my local Lexus Dealership to date has installed 7 headers into ISF that I have brought to them. 4 PPE, 2 Skikky and 1 Novel Headers. The Novel where the most difficult to installed and took several hours longer to install than what they quoted my fellow CL member, but the service mgr charged him price that he was quoted that was stand up move. They have installed coilovers, rotors, pads, catback exhaust you name it. On headers they charged slightly over what third party shops are charging and warranty there install work,oh and there master tech does all the header installs.. Now if part fails that on you. On the invoice it Indicates customer supplied aftermarket parts, on the invoice it also indicate they will not be held responsible for aftermarket part failures etc. They even fixed small exhaust leak coming from my PPE headers that had been installed by another shop. So it all depends on dealership and ultimately service mgrs discretion.

It's true..simply cause there is the presence of aftermarket parts does not plainly void the warranty..if problems arise due to the aftermarket part failing that MAY be an issue and it's in the dealer fine print. As far as having dealers install the parts it does vary, I've seen some do installs on aftermarket parts and some not. It is terribly expensive thO...dealer shop rates plus All-Data/Mitchell = to many dollars 8-(

Diesel350, I can totally understand wanting to have the dealer install the parts, they're likely someone who you've trusted in the past & who should certainly know your vehicle.

I may just go that route next time after being overcharged by a local independent Toyota specialist for a Torsen diff. install. Afterwards, the dealer SA (& F owner) told me they had just done an OS Giken on his friend's F.

So I contacted a shop that specializes in Lexus and the guy told me I needed to bring it in for him to give me a quote. I mean really? You can't give me a quote over the phone for a SPRING INSTALL, You have to look at it? Geezus!!

Most stealership, unless they are mod friendly and carry the mod parts, will not do an install of aftermarket parts.. I had an infiniti g35 coupe before and the closest one to me would not do an install.. I had to drive almost 70 miles away to a mod friendly stealership and they would sell and install aftermarket parts.. Only negative about it is that if there was a problem i drive back to them..
