While we wait for Lance's explanation, I don't think their is any recommended brand as long as it's 5W-30. My local Lexus Dealership is filling it with conventional 5W-30 (Castrol) and they can add synthetic for a extra charge. It's really up to your preference on what brand you want to use. Many use Mobil1 and some use Royal Purple, Motul, Liqui Moly, or Redline. A good thread to probably read up on is the blackstone UOA Analysis. That should give you an idea on what matters and what doesn't.
Also forgot to add, in my experience, oil leaks seem to start occurring when you suddenly switch from conventional to synthetic.

I find this thread quite interesting.
Over this side of the pond, we have a different service level to you guys I believe? Ours is 10K miles or per annum.
I also checked with my local Lexus dealer just now, and they use Castrol Magnatec fully synthetic 5W-30 in the F's.
Just thought I would throw that out there to see what people think?
I'm wondering what the best oil would be for my F at the moment as well.

Just to add this is what I see when I enter all my details in a well known UK oil suppliers search engine: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-2355-loo...earFilter=2008

I switched to strictly Synthetic due to the massive number of track days I see and that I live in AZ. Its only $12 more at the dealership so why the hell not , right !?

I like threads like these. Picks people's minds. It is certainly something else when different dealers recommend different oil brands. I had some service done on mine yesterday at NorthShore Lexus and the guy helping me said he has an '08 that comes in that is shy of 200k miles. I didn't even think to ask what they use for oil.

To my knowledge they ship from Japan w/ Toyota 5w30 Motor Oil in them..
That even goes for todays 2016 GS F & RC F they build with the stronger iteration of the 2UR-GSE

The quoted statement is dead accurate. You're not going to find out what oil Lexus used for development. The most you will get from Lexus is what is in the owner's manual. Yamaha isn't talking either. I would be very surprised if it were Kendall just because you are not going to find Kendall oil in Japan very easily.

But "Toyota" doesn't have their own brand oil "Toyota". Don't they hire "XYZ" to make motor oil specifically for the car? Like other poster stated that Toyota has never built anything like this before.

There are some un documented rumors that its manufactured by Mobil to Toyota's special designated formula.

Idemitsu Lubricants America has an MSDS for Toyota Genuine Motor Oil 5W30 SN/CF.

He also had his radiator cleaned out of some derbies that were there.
He switched over to RedLine 5W-30 and said the car runs much better.
Motul and Amsoil are good oils as well.
