Does it smell like rotten eggs?

That's what it is! Rotten egg smell! I remember having it when the stock exhaust was in place. I continue to have it now with my aftermarket exhaust system. Should I worry about it being a crack in the manifold? Or it's that sulfide material left in the car? Thanks guys, I was wondering if it was cabin filter or something.

The rotten egg smell is the result of catalytic converter operation. Completely normal, especially when running the motor hard and then letting up on it for a bit.

I have 93k on my car and I have that ticking noise when I start the car but it goes away after the car warms up. I am getting my PPE headers installed on Tuesday, so I'll see then if my manifold is cracked.

I just got my PPE headers installed with new gaskets and I seem to believe my ticking went away. My OEM headers look fine, so I wonder if its the gaskets that are causing some of the issues.

Are you buying new gaskets?

I'll definitely give an update when I pick up the car tomorrow.

I didn't buy any new gaskets except for the ones that came with the headers.
I'm wondering if maybe the gaskets are deteriorating or have become loose with heat/cool cycles and time. Hopefully some of the more experienced members can chime in with better info.

Finally picked up my car with PPE headers installed and there is no ticking noise anymore, even after a cold startup.

The gaskets were fine. My stock exhaust manifold was cracked and is similar to what happened to JoeZ. I also had a little of the the carbon black soot on the heat shield.

Bingo..!!!

Identical to my failure.. Passenger Side as well

(It is not the gaskets if there is no visible soot trails once removed)

Can someone point out exactly where the crack is? Please. I'm looking at the photographs, and I just want to be sure. So no more ticking noise? This is very interesting.
