Default sage RCA blocks-20mm

ok, so as an alternative to running coil overs or lowering springs, will installing rca 20mm blocks be a good idea to use on the IS F? I know guys with GS/ISx run them, but haven't seen any threads(haven't searched) on the IS F using blocks.

You'd only want to use RCAs along with lowering springs or coilovers, not as an alternative.

I've been using 20mm LCA blocks since I got my ISF 3 years ago. No problems to report.

thanks BS1. looks good. one thing I noticed after driving the F on Tein springs is, the roads here in SoCal are worse than I remember. I can live with stock suspension and the RCA blocks for a while.

Note how far back it pushes the front wheel due to the fact the knuckle is angled. The loss is caster is not a desirable thing and will reduce the steering response. Just FFT.

I have had no steering issues what so ever...I also have my car aligned twice a year due to the terrible roads we have here on Oahu and the camber and caster settings are as close to oem as possible.

Why would one adjust the roll center on a vehicle that's not lowered?
What is the purpose?
Why would one ever want to reduce caster in our cars?

Does this have something to do with "stance"??

Yup...even out the "gap" between the front and rear wheels. Like I said...I have not had any issues with steering or anything. The car is a daily driver...there isn't even a track of any kind here.

I don't see it. wouldn't this be the same issue with lowering springs? my car lowered on Tein springs, stock shocks.

Regardless if the car is lowered or not moving or adjusting the roll center can make a difference in handling. It definitely can become much more important on a lowered car.

But... I don't think anyone outside of Toyota knows where the roll center is in relation to the COG, so adjusting the roll center closer to the COG is at best an educated guess. Someday I'd like to map out the suspension pivots and make that educated guess, but today is definitely not someday!

lol. I see your point. all I know is once a vehicles COG changes, either lower or higher, it affects other aspects of the suspension, steering, handling etc. what's the fun of modifying a vehicle if we can't break things. afterall, that's why there's aftermarket parts right?

Just like Figs said this isnt the proper way. Its going to throw off your caster causing serious handling issues and maybe even longevity issues.

I would buy a nice set of coil overs or springs and struts. I have learned when lowering my lexus is300 to not cheap out. Just not worth it.
