Default DVD not showing movie

I didn't even see if the DVD worked when I bought the car. CD's play and the DVD will play, but I get no picture. is this a common issue, or is there something disabled? this is when I'm in park. I do have an extended warranty if I need to get it fixed, but I'm not going to be watching movies on the regular, but it's nice if it worked.

Is it a blue ray or older movie?

If you're on park, the foot brake also needs to be on. No other way to view picture unless you have the over ride kit.

I'm assuming you can only play DVD's with the ML nav system?
