I have been a big fan of the Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position for some time now. I ran them on my stock '08 wheels in 245/35 and 285/30 sizes until I upgraded to my current RCF wheels which are shod with 255/35 and 295/30 S-04s. Great street braking, handling, rain handling and no noise. Just, IMHO, an all around Great Street Performance Tire.

What do you want to do with the car? Are you looking for the most performance on the street, while the tires are at normal (warm but not hot) temps? If so there is no real benefit of going with an r-comp (PSC2, R888 etc.) If you're planning on tracking the car then it's a completely different story. Regardless if you are planning on driving aggressively you should pay little attention to the UTQG ratings (not that they really mean anything these days, anyways!)

I'd definitely recommend going wider (especially in the front). Though, you won't be able to run 255s up front if you have the '08 OEM wheels. I think 245 is max for those.

They do make them in 285/25/20

Default Best IS F Performance Tire?

Ugh, I'm torn.. I need a full new set of tires and am stuck between pss and s-04's. I would like the tire that would give me the most life but without sacrificing to much grip. (while keeping cost in mind) I understand it's somewhat of a sliding scale with the variables being wear/grip but I'm still stuck... And then you throw in the dws06s (I live in FL so no snow but.. I heard these were pretty solid in dry/wet as well) in the mix with its 540 Treadwear.. I don't plan on tracking my car but I do want to be able to drive the car somewhat aggressively every once in a while. I'm currently running 245/35/19 and 275/35/19. What do y'all think?

I run 285 S-04's and I've loved them. I know the PSS have better ratings, but with the price difference I'm not street racing on the weekends or tracking it. I'm sure I'd never know the difference between the two.

I think the BFG Comp 2s are a great compromise.

I still feel that the AD08R is a better track tire but the refinement and lack of noise as well as comparable street preformance makes the PSS the right choice for most who dont mind spending the extra money. I loved them but wanted something more consistent for track work. I am thinking of trying to get the best of both worlds and running the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. I want to be the first ISF to run this tire on the track.

My drag radials are at the wear bars, so it’s time to rethink tires. We sold our third car, so the ISF is used more often now, spring - fall, but still parked in the winter. I need a tire with decent traction for drag racing, and even road coursing, but still can take temperature fluctuations and rain. I still don’t drive much, so they can easily last a little while and heat cycle themselves out if they are a true R comp tires. Any recommendations? My fronts are PS2s with some tread left, so I can put those on the rear and call it done, but a couple of 285s are so expensive I can also potentially buy a full square set of 275/35/18s in another tire. Thoughts?
