Default Measurement favour - top radiator hose

Hey Guys,

Hoping someone will be kind enough to take a quick measurement for me.

My F is away from home this week having its wheels refinished after my wife curbed the drivers side front.

I'm hoping to get my Defi gauges installed soon, but need an adaptor to fit in the top radiator hose to provide a feed for the water temperature gauge.

Thing is they come in lots of different diameters.

I just need to know the width of the top hose if possible?

Thanks for any help you can offer chaps.

Cheers.

Peter

Hi Peter,

I just measured mine at 5 cm. Sorry about lousy angle in the photo (it makes the hose appear smaller).

Thanks Mike.

Just had another look at the fitting kits, and it's the inner diameter I need unfortunately!

Not quite as easy a task as I'd hoped!

If anyone seeing this has a spare or old top hose lying around the workshop, I'd really appreciate it if you could measure the inner diameter for me.

If not I'll have to disconnect mine when it comes back from the wheel place!

Thanks again Mike. I need to read things more closely!

So if they offer these in mm sizes, would it be the 26mm I need?

That's the smallest size I could find. Next size up is 28mm.

Sorry guys, not confident with sizing things like this up!

Last thing I want is to order the wrong one!

Cheers.

Looks like you need to cut your top hose, insert the sender unit into the two sections of hose, then tighten two jubilee clips either side of the sender to stop leaks etc.

The temperature probe then screws in to the sender, and send the information through the wire to the water temperature gauge.

I'm pretty confident 26mm would be the right size. By the time I tighten the clamps, that should be a secure fit.

That's not correct 1.00" is 2.54
1.25x2.54 = 3.175 cm

You gotta ask a Canadian for metric conversion

Everything I can find for the radiator inlet/outlet diameters is 38mm/1.5". The hose will smaller to give a tight fit.
