I knew this because the brake fluid required topping up frequently.

Part of Long term ownership woes...

Hopefully the list remains small for us holding onto the car for 8-10 years

I only did it to show that it was stiff (via sound because you can't see the pressure I'm putting on it on video). Right after I turned off the car I would press on it and it would get stiff right away already. That was the whole reason I uploaded the video. I am not continuously pressing on my brakes 50x before I start my F and then going on CL and asking why my car is having this issue. However my issue seem to went away at least for now.

My brake pedal does this too. The dealer couldn't replicate the problem. Happens about once a month. Most of the time it happens first thing in the morning. Seems to be fine when driving.

My dealer told me the same thing the first time I told them about the problem. I then told them very specifically to keep the car parked away for two or three days and make absolutely sure no one touches it. Then on the third or fourth day try starting the car and for sure the problem will show up. When they did this they agreed there was a problem.

This thread is old but I have been suffering the stiff brake pedal on start for the past year or so on my '12. 4 trips to Woodland Hills, once was left there 4 days, kept telling me that they couldn't replicate. Bet they moved the vehicle in between because it only happened when the vehicle sat for at least 1.5 day. Service writer swore up & down that he instructed it not to be moved.

Got tired of this over ~$40 so I ordered the check valve & grommet just in case, swapped them out few days ago and all seems fine. The original valve had some minor "sticking" action on the spring so that may be it. The original grommet looked fine but rubber does degrade, since I had the part, might as well change it out. Took me longer to undo the cover (12mm plastic spinning nut), old valve came out easy with good grip, new one went in easily as well with light lube on the grooves.

Thanks to this thread and the P/N's.
