Kids and the rear reading light
I don't know if anyone else is bothered by this, but my son keeps turning the map light over his car seat on and leaving it on. Sometimes I notice, sometimes I don't. It has never created a no start situation, but I decided I am tired of this and I put a permanent fix to it today.
The rear light assembly is held in by two strong clips on the back side. I used a panel pry tool to remove the assembly hoping I would be able to easily disconnect the LEDs. Not going to happen. They are soldered all the way from the connector to the lamps, and I have no interest in desoldering them. So, instead, I pulled the power wire for the LEDs. It is separate from the dome light (thank goodness!). It is the wire at pin 1, an orange wire. I used the same tool I employed when I turned the shifter around to remove the pin, taped it back against the harness with electrical tape, and at some point in the future when I can trust he won't be doing this anymore, I'll reconnect it by sliding the pin back in the connector.
I would take pics, but there's really not much to see. Pics of the disassembled unit are attached.

Much more thorough and complex approach than I'd use.
Apply liberally to switch or child.

I set ground rules with my daughter on how to behave in vehicles. Safety first! (Seat belt) and absolutely No touching buttons, door handles, keeping shoes off front seats. She's awesome about it! She's adorable trying to step in the car without trying to step on the door sills. Her cousin now, is a complete different story. She only rides with us occasionally thank God! She drives me off the wall.

That's why I said my son. He's just like me. Doesn't listen for crap, has to experience it for himself before it means anything.

I keep a " Jump and Go " unit in my trunk in case, but my kids have done this to me before. When you have a waiting room filled with patients you can't call in or be late ....ever. lol
