Default Brake shim question

I know you can get brake shims with the oem brake pads. Can you/should you use those with other non-oem brake pads?

I would... Yes

The shim plates take the contact points from the Pistons - They also allow the use of the Anti-Squeal Grease

Recent Work on did on my rear brakes..

It depends on the brake pads. I have those same pads on my ISF and I didn't use shims. No noise at all, but I miss the bite of Hawk pads... And I do use shims with Hawk pads.

As a note I had to bend the retaining ears on the top of the rear shims to fit my Porterfield pads.
