Are there many who work on their own ISF?
Hi guys,
Just wondering how many people here work on their own cars? Don't think i can create a poll but would be interesting.
Unless it's something general servicing related i tend to work on my own cars. There have been too many errors when i take the car in for anything to be done other than routine work, what are your experiences?

Not many here. Most have shops or dealers work on their cars.

Depends what it is, brakes/oil yes, parts swaps like exhaust/intake, differential/driveline, body kit, interior stuff like seat and steering wheel swaps, suspension and tire fitment yes all done myself. I had the dealership do the recalls and do a trans fluid servicing, was more cost effective that way

It's like this in Canada as well. I'd say most dealers would shy away from helping their customers mod. The dealers that are helpful are far and few between.

I Just got my ISF and i have not dove into working on it yet. I'm actually trying to figure out if i am going to flush the brake system with Super ATE Amber fluid or if i will take it to a shop for the help. My wife has always been my right hand woman on the jobs on all my cars but she is 7.5 preggo so she isn't about that life anymore. I just don't have the time anymore so its going to be a struggle.
I am thinking of headers and exhaust in the near future but with baby on the way, a wife that cant help me hold ****, and beer and pizza not enticing enough for the boys to come over anymore since they are all Familied up now.. I may have to take the F to the shop to get worked on lol

I try to do most things myself. My F hasn't been to the dealer in over six years. I do need to get some of the recalls done, with the exception of two (Most folks know of which 2 I speak). Only things I haven't done are my header, PPE exhaust install, painting and installation of a new bumper cover I needed because of road debris. and tire installations.
I've been working on my own stuff for fifty years now. So far the toughest thing I've done is the installation of the RRRacing LCA Bushings, and that was only because I was using ramps and there was not enough room to work.

So far, in the year that I've had the ISF:
- 2 oil changes done myself
- wiper blades replaced
- 4 wheel brake pads changed
- 4 wheel brake rotors changed
- Borla exhaust installed
- 2 downstream O2 sensors replaced (seized in exhaust)
- Summer / winter wheels swaps
