Holiday Charity Laps at VIR 11/6/15
Just passing along info from the local track. No registration required, just show up, make your $25 donation an enjoy your laps. The lady I spoke with on the phone said they will try to get people on the track at 0800 and do so until around 1600. Each donation gets you 20-25 minutes of track time, and you are allowed to make more donations throughout the day if you'd like more time.
There are a few videos online from years past. I found one of a guy in a vette going in excess of 100 at a couple points, so I think you are allowed to play around some.
Just an FYI for the group. I've put in a request off at work, but we'll see if it gets approved.

VIR holiday laps are pretty fun. You are in groups of a dozen cars or more, and they set the speed with both a pace car and a chase car. I have done this several times with my Supra in years past. No passing allowed anywhere, and you can run anything. Seen some minivans out there even, so you can get stuck behind something slow. If you try to hold back to get some bursts of speed they bunch up the pace car and the whole group slows down. It was still fun but it is no HPDE session, just a nice relaxed way to drive the line at VIR. I did get to 100mph on the back straight for a short time if you get in a reasonable group, but I have seen a couple of Porsches stuck behind a minivan doing 65mph too . Can be busy and slow to repeat later in the day depending on attendance too. But VIR is a really nice road course and their charity donations are for good causes as well.
