Hi guys
I'm planning to buy an ISF 2013
I want to know how durable it is for a daily car?
I used to have the is 350 and it was a very reliable car
Appreciate your opinions

No difference in reliability, in fact maybe even more reliable since the engine and drivetrain are so well built. I haven't heard of ANY chronic durability issues and they have been on the road for 7 years now, and most likely logged hundreds of millions of miles. Only issues I see repeatedly are maybe the subwoofer being easy to blow out and the LED needles in the dash burning out, but nothing in terms of reliability as a DD.

Don't forget the water pump issue but that may not affect 2013 models. I have had mine a year and no issues but I still have less than 50k on her.

Water pump is only the 08/09s.
No issues except maybe headlight pain bubbling...

The car itself is built well. I haven't seen or heard any issues regarding the newer Fs outside of the headlight paint bubbling, but that's more of a cosmetic issue than anything. Mechanically, I have yet to find a vehicle that is as reliable and still provides ample fun behind the wheel. It's not the fastest, and there will probably never be a "tune", but for a car that is still faster than 95% on the roads ( and a sedan at that), that's a very reassuring feeling. It probably won't ever break down on you, and all it requires is routine maintenance (engine oil takes close to 10 qts, brake pads/rotors, tires) and a nice detail every once in awhile, and she's good to go!

The only differences between your current IS350 and the IS F are the lack of a fifth seat (middle seat not available on the F), added HP/TQ, and no cooled seats in the front (only heated seats for the F).

+1 on 2013 as being great year, wish i would've had the change to grab a 13 model.

2013 is one of the best years to own. All the suspension upgrades with the cosmetic changes AND no known issues . These cars are bullet proof. Made to be beaten on.

The IS F will be way more reliable than the 350z. I knew a bunch of people that had 350zs ranging from fully stock to 700+ rwhp. On a side note, the VQ35 engine starts running into massive head lifting issues at that much power.

Toyota/Lexus cars are usually durable and long-lasting. Expect 19 mpg for combined road/highway.

When you pick one up, also get the Figs front LCA bushings or the RR Racing ones and a good alignment. Then you will get even front tire wear as well.

I am also sure he meant IS 350 but haven't heard of heads lifting on a VQ since ARP came out with L19 head studs... A few early builds had head lift mine included but it hasn't been an issue on properly built VQs in the last 7 years.


To the OP I have an ISF for my daily driver and run about 60miles/day and I love it. The perfect daily driver. I get 19-23mpg and I drive fairly quick.
