Default Heater is blowing cold air

Hey everyone

Winter is coming and I am running into a problem, I tried to set my heat at the highest level today and was getting nothing but cold air. I get ice cold A/C, but no heat at any temperature. Would anyone have any insight to what could be the culprit?

Check your coolant level. Also were you sitting still or driving? Also how was the outside temp? I believe our HVAC system will only get to a certain temp based on outside temp.

Thank you for the response! I noticed today, when I am driving (especially when I drive hard) the heat begins to work, but at a standstill it goes cold again.

I will check the coolant level once I get home.

Mine does this when my coolant gets low. I have an 08 and to my knowledge my water pump is fine.

The water pump was replaced by the previous owner, and the radiator was replaced under warranty as well. I am thinking it may hopefully be an issue with it just being low on coolant. I will check later on today and report.

It looks to me that we have a pressurized coolant system, you may need to bleed air out of the system as well.

I had mt recall work and the car still loses coolants ever so slightly. It's annoying but I am hoping they will find the coolant leak into the valley plate when they do the fuel system recall . I just keep adding a couple of ounces of distilled water every 2-3 months. I will probably order some coolant since this seems like its will be a minor , although chronic issue with the ISF

Thanks everyone! I checked today and the coolant was on the low side... I filled it up with some Toyota coolant and drove around and now the heater is finally hot! Thanks again

More importantly, you need to find the leak. It might be in the valley of the engine, and if it is, it's a PITA to fix.
