Just bought a 2008 Lexus ISF... But only came with one key
Hey guys
I am an owner of a 2008 Lexus ISF Special Build. Unfortunately, I only received one smart key with the car. I wanted to purchase another key and going through search on the forum I found alot of information, but nothing straightforward. I read that the 2008's are different from the 09+? Would I be able to buy a smart key off of eBay, and have it programmed at the dealership for a 2008? Thanks for any help, and ill post pics of my ISF soon!

I wouldn't cheap out on this. I would order the key and get it programmed. The key really isn't that much. They charge more for the programing.
I just don't cheap out on things like this. To valuable.

As stated earlier, they key itself isnt expensive, but dealers do charge a bit for programming. What I would do is give the parts department your VIN and they'll do it all for you. Might be a bit expensive, but at least you'll have two keys if you ever need them.
What build number did you get?

Have to agree with the rest. You dont want to skimp on this and it can be done through your SA or parts dept at the next visit. Congrats on the new F !

Parts seem to be quite a bit cheaper for you guys in the US. My dealer in Canada wanted $350 for a regular fob and just over $430 for the wallet key; not to mention programming fees. I only have one fob and have been putting off getting another for 2 years now...

Thanks for the input everyone. The only reason I was trying to go a cheaper route is because I have a smartkey with the laser cut key already, so this would just be my secondary key in case I were to lose it. The worst feeling is only having one key.
I will go ahead and call the dealership how much they will charge, though I always try to avoid dealerships (who doesn't)? I am just hoping they don't charge something ridiculous like 400 dollars. That is why I was possibly looking to buy a key off of eBay, and seeing if I can just have it programmed at the dealership and hopefully save hundreds of dollars, while having the piece of mind of a spare key.
