Yes it is loud! When at high rpm is exotic, and *****ing! But normal driving the drone at 2000rpm is un bearable!!! Talking to a friend of mine , freak in vw , audi. Told me to look up into antidrone exhaust, he said look it up , corvettes and nissans are using it!!! He checked the exhaust and told me to stuff one rag on the top exhaust tip of each side , that would make the upper muffler as an antidrone muffler . I tried it because i had nothing to loose , turns out i have no drone what so ever and the car is quiet ! Is unrreal!! Tryit and youll thank me , so far ive used it w no problems , next step is to see if this rob power out of the car ( i doubt it because that upper exhaust is just for noise) i choose to use the rags for the moment until i decide to do something about it. Try it you wont belive the results.
Drone is vibration from resonance. Fix the resonance, no drone. People have had success just from heat wrapping in some cases. I'm assuming that's essentially what you are doing is dampening vibration.
If you notice the picture of the exhaust before, the mufflers w tips are the bottom tip on our car the top one is blcked off , im blocking off my top exhaust tip muffler w a rag inside of it , as easy as that slap tight a rag in there and run the car , you will se what im saying
+1 for the helmholtz chamber. Had a custom exhaust setup made up for my 911tt with these chambers and it turned what is normally a hugely droning systems into something that screams when you're on it but cancels out the interior drone on the highway.
I amazes me that exhaust manufacturers don't do the extra research to calculate the frequencies to have these chambers eliminate the drone on every exhaust.

I had that HKS exhaust on my 350Z. No drone whatsoever cruising but very loud when you stomped on the gas. I loved that exhaust system.
Wouldn't putting a rag in your exhaust eventually disintegrate? Something tells me this is not a long term fix. I would spend the money and have a fabricator add some side branch resonators to your exhaust system if you want to get rid of drone,
This is not the end product , is just a test done with what i have available to proove my point , so far i havent figure out what to do permanently , but to be honest till i figure what to do the rags are in , no way this could cause fire , at least
