Default Almost time for new tires

23,000 miles on the factory tires.

I was thinking about the Michelin Super Sports, I can get them shipped for $1081.

I compared the Super Sports with the PS2's, per TireRack, the Super Sports have better hydroplaning resistance (not that it matters since I don't drive the car in the rain), better ride quality, less noise and the UTQG ratings are 300 compared to 200 with A grades for traction and temperature.

The difference is $300, did I just answer my own question or are the Super Sports the way to go?

2. Do I need new TPMS sensors or any other hardware?

The PSS are great tires. I currently have them on the IS-F and used to have a set on my EVO X MR. They feel much stickier than their 300 treadwear rating would suggest and are a major improvement in the wet over similar tires. Can't go wrong with a set of these tires.

PSS are the best available - they were on nationwide back order when I tried to get myself a set.

I think we've all pretty much abandoned PS/2s for Super Sports.

Man... I still can't believe people are getting this much tire life on their cars.. My previous cars had a 15K tire lifecycle.

Personally, I have been really liking my Bridgestone S04 Pole Positions. I have had the PSS and like them a lot too. I run a 285 in the rear and PSS's weren't available in that size.

PSS is THE BEST. As an allrounder it cant be beat. I havent been able to get more than 8k on a set but I use them on the track all the time. I will be odering new wheels soon and I am actually basing my rear wheel width on what will get me into a 295/30/19 Michelin PSS. They dont come in 285/30/19 so no 10.5". PSS balance well, grip like crazy, and they are the best.

If you look at any sports car coming out , they almost all wear the PSS stock. This includes Ferrari and Porsche

What's the average tire lifecycle for our cars? Assuming stock PS/2 tires.

100% driver dependent. I got three track weekends and 30k miles out of my original Bridgestone RE050As. I have not tracked with the PSS, but it would not be fair to compare because I have a lot more rubber under me now.

PSS is the best as an all around tire. This means, grip, ride quality, wet grip, and durability.. If we were looking for just grip RE71R , or R888 , and RE11 would be solid. There are options out there that may give you a little more grip and response but at the cost of many other aspects. Most of us dont run track tires and street tires. Its just tires. Therefore PSS . This is why its on pretty anything worth its weight that calls itself a performance car and why they sell so damn well. Everyone from engineers to journalists to enthusiasts have said it loud and clear......PSS.....

I've tracked with both multiple times on different tracks......PSS by far, although I do think the steering response is slightly better with the RE050A.
