Default My first mod...a proper detailing job

A couple of months ago my wife and I picked up a used 2008 ISF to replace her Camry. I was shopping for about 6-7 months before I found the right one in GA. The car was solid, but the condition of the paint was in need of a serious detailing job. There was swirls all over the body. It looked good from afar, but up close it was a different story.

I wanted the car to look as well as it performed so I got online and did my research. I remember being on the mustang and corvette forums and hearing of a great detailer by the name of Jeff that was local to me in the bay area. It took me some time, but I was able to track him down and found his shop called Immaculate Reflections. I quickly got in touch with Jeff and made my appointment to go over the car.

After a 15-20min inspection, he recommended his stage 2 service and I opted to add his CQuartz coating service for extra protection.

The result was incredible and I couldn't have been happier. When my wife saw the car, her first words were "WOW, it looks like a new car!" Jeff brought the tired paint back to life. Short of getting the car repainted, this was the next best thing.

Throughout the process, he kept me updated on the work and sent me progress photos that had me drooling with excitement.

Once we took the car outside, the reflection was amazing to say the least. I didn't have my camera with me, but Jeff did snap a few photos. Hopefully, he can send some my way for posting. If anyone in the Bay Area is looking for a high end detailer, you won't be disappointed with Jeff's work.

Beautiful F you have there. Looks like a awesome detail job. I'm curious how much the detail cost?

Nice work, I've heard about this place when I lived in the Bay.

Are you going to clear bra the car as well or just leave it as is?

Make sure she doesn't take the car to the car wash, and wash it with a 5 gallon bucket with grit guard.

Again, nicely done. Black cars are a pain in the @$$ to fix paint on.

The beauty of black cars! They do look the sexiest of any color on the road, but they also require the most care and attention when it comes to detailing and maintenance. But it does appear to be a fresher look on an already great car. Any other mods planned in the meantime?

Incredible depth and transformation

For maintenance I highly recommend the coin op car washes. For $2 every 1-2 weeks I'll go do a high pressure spray and a spot free rinse (gets me 6 minutes of water). nothing but water ever touches the car. It doesn't get everything, especially after it rains, but perfect for accumulated dust. I do an actual MF mitt wash every month with a foam gun, 2 buckets with gritt guard, and 6 months I'll do clay. Its garaged at home but outside at work. If we didn't have the drought I'd be doing MF mitts every weekend.

Optimum No Rinse ftw! Perfect for gentle washes, esp here in CA where it's now illegal to wash your car at home using a hose.....Stuff is amazing, and if you already have mitts and buckets/grit guards you're all set. Highly recommended!

ETA: OP: looks stellar. What a fantastic job, and the difference is night and day. Looks absolutely amazing!

Go down to the coin car wash, bring the following:

1. 5 gallon bucket with gritt guard.

2. wash mitt

3. Car shampoo

4. California jelly blade

5. Cobra micro fiber towels for drying.

I bring a separate cheap bucket for the wheels/brakes, along with the brushes for that.

I've been washing my car like that FOR YEARS, drought or no drought. Best time to do it is at night, barely anyone around, no sun (no water spots), no people standing in line.

Looks great! CQuartz is good stuff, had CQuartz UK coating on my old e46 BMW. Put 22ple coating on my IS-F.

Black always the best cars to work on as a detailer, the before/after photos are always so dramatic

I do not know Jeff, but judging by the products, the shop, and the methods he uses (taping off the areas he wants to avoid, as in plastics and lenses, utilization of a hoist), not to mention the results, he certainly appears to be the real deal. I have a bada$$ old school detailer in SoCal who works very similar magic.

Thanks guy. His price is based on the condition of the paint and the kind of results the customer wants to achieve. I can say that his stage 1 starts off at $600 just to give you guys an idea.

In my 20s, I did 95% of the mods myself and enjoyed it greatly. Now in my mid 30s, I don't always get the same kind of enjoyment I used to feel. Certain things, I don't mind paying others to do the work.

Last weekend, I installed a TRD supercharger on my Tacoma instead of paying Toyota $800-1000 for the install. I can deal with mechanical work like that, but when it comes to proper pant correction, a weekend warrior isn't going to be able to pull off the same kind of results as this.
