Default Daily Driver IS

I just bought a 2013 IS 350 C F Sport as a daily driver. I too do more than 20K/year.

I replaced a 2007 Camry and the Lexus is certainly less smooth than the Camry, but it is comfortable enough and really fun to drive. I just did a trip to central Oregon and back (520 miles round trip) a couple of weekends ago and it was fine. Again, it isn't a "smooth" luxury car (especially with the F sport suspension) but it is a fun entry-level luxury coupe.

I hope this helps. Oh, I bought mine with about 23,000 miles and paid about $36K from a dealer (I wanted to trade the Camry).

He wanted an actual ISF not an IS F sport like your car.

I like hard suspensions but I have to admit, the suspension when driving on cement highways with all the cement seals and gaps between plates here in Atlanta can be pretty brutal on the back and tailbone. As I said, I like hard suspensions and read about the 2011/12 suspension upgrade and I stumbled on a near new set off a 2014 F with Swift springs and even with that change, it is still harsh on the bouncy highway but not enough to detract from the positive and fun factors of the car. Much easier ride on the driver for when I let my son drive, it can get downright brutal on the passenger side in my opinion in comparison.

Maybe it is the Swift springs that are keeping it kind of harsh? Either way, damn good car.
Correct, I had swift springs on my previous F and the ride was very stiff and felt everything on the road.

Even Lexus owners confuse the IS-F with other F Sport models, smh.

I daily my 08 ISF. Im about to hit 50k on the clock. My experience with the F has been great... The car loves speed and is always asking for more. You said ride quality is big for you, mIne is very stiff at times and some bumps are unsettling. But it rides like a race car. Gas mileage is around 20 MPG for my average. Maintenance isn't horrid. Their great, the newer model F's have revised suspensions and such I'd look in that direction.

My car makes me smile very often, and EVERYBODY stares at it. You won't be disappointed.

I would say I'm in the hard part of the hunt, all I'm finding are either gunmetal or black ISF's right now.

How far are you looking and how much do you want to spend?

The 2012's and up will be more. I do urge you to at least test drive one to see the suspension and interior differences. Even the navigation menus got an upgrade.

Also, I just paid $1600 to have my car shipped, enclosed carrier and fully insured from CA to NC, so if you find the car you really want, this is worth the money.

I would not buy a black car in Nevada.

I'm looking to be somewhere in the 30's to 40's range right now. My buddy found one in his town in Texas in the same color that I want and it's an older dude who owns it so it might be worth the trip out there.

I was cruising to work and I saw a white IS and before I could take a look at the exhaust stack, I saw the silver glint of the 'F' badge on the fender. I pulled up next to him and I thought to myself, "that is the oddest IS-F I have ever seen, where's his fender vents!"

I later realized it was an IS250 F-Sport.

While you are on your road trip, maybe go a bit farther to look at this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexus-IS-4dr-Sedan-/161773340037?forcerrptr=true&hash=item25aa714585&item=161773340037&rmvSB=true

i daily my car as well. ive had it for about a year now and already put ~25k just on commuting. it hurts me to do so since its such a quality car and the miles are merely from commuting. when youre actually driving is when you think to yourself, 'this is worth it.'

Only problem is that it's black on black, and in Vegas that makes for a very bad time lol.

@NSXGuy, I saw that one, it's nice but I'm not looking for someone else's car personalty if that makes sense.

There was a white one in Austin last week that I was looking at.

I have an 08 that I've installed 2013 shocks and springs on. The ride was pretty harsh on the 08 setup, on the 13 setup it's still stiff, but feels more... Sophisticated. It takes the small choppy stuff smoothly now, where before it felt like every grain of dust made the body move.
