Default OEM Quad Tips vs. Aftermarket Quad Tips

The quad tips on the car right now were painted poorly by the previous owner. There's bubbling and paint cracking so it looks horrible. There's some slight over-spray on the bumper so I know they didn't take the tips off to paint them properly. I tried scraping off the paint, but realized that the chrome is getting damaged along the way.

How is the quality of the aftermarket quad tips that's available on ebay/amazon? If anyone can speak from experience that would be great. Anyone have a set of OEM ones for sale?

Those aftermarket ones don't look very good in terms of quality. I haven't seen them in person just from seller photos.

I've also been in search of oem tips for over 6 months. They're hard to come by and quite expensive from the dealer and online.

Yes, the factory ones are indeed pricey. What's wrong with your factory tips?

One tip on the driver side is ever so slightly bent. I think the last owner backed into something :/.

That's too bad. I might end up just picking up an ebay one for the time being. If I do, I'll report back on the quality and fitment.

Have your set re-done. Maybe powder coat them instead of painting.

In truth, the eBay looking tips look horrible. There is definitely a less than OEM look to them. Some who have tried putting them on their IS Fs, whether a side just fell out or was damaged or whatever the case was, reported that it just didn't look right. Fitment was also a bit of an issue, but more so how the tips tilted and the different oval look to them.

You have an ISF...
eBay tips signify one thing: hi, my car's been rear-ended.
Powdercoat your tips or buy OEM.

That's what I was afraid of.

I think I'll try to remove the paint again using some paint thinner this time. Hopefully, I can restore it back to stock.

Take it somewhere before you destroy them!

FYI, Powder coating should be less then half the cost of a single OEM diffuser.

I think it's better to buy from auto parts store like auto anything, carid, JC whitney and ************.

LOL, if it doesn't turn out right, I'll end up getting them powder coated.

These diffusers are a PITA, IMO. They don't hold up too well and are a little flimsy. I guess that's why they scrapped it on the RCF.
