Thumbs down I'm done with Lexus

I have a 2008 Lexus IS-F with just over 40K miles on it. The car has always been garaged. And that's the problem. Lexus installed some crappy plastics in all 2007-2008 IS'es (incuding IS-F) - over time they start to detoriate and fall appart. It is significantly accelerated by sun exposure - people who parked outside had their interiors replaced under warranty. Lexus knows about this issue and replaces interiors in 2007-2008 IS 250 and IS 350 for free, even when cars are out of warranty. But not in IS-F! For some reason Lexus thinks they can get away with treating IS-F owners like crap. I was going to replace my IS-F with RC-F this year, but after hearing Lexus won't fix my interior, I am done with that brand.

P.S. IS-F is my third Lexus, I had GS 460 and SC 430 before. This is how the company treats its loyal customer...

Do you have any pics? I'd be curious to see what you are talking about.

Someone is hurt because Lexus won't fix something out of warranty? I have an 08 IS-F that came from Georgia and it's just fine. I take care of the dash and it's garaged as well. I have no problems.

It's the same interior melting/deterioration on other posts. I'm really sorry that you're upset. Trust me, if you call corporate and complain enough, they will replace it for you. Just be persistent and don't take the 50/50 offer. Be assertive in asking for 100% replacement.

I've never heard about this at all. My dash is fine, and it gets parked in the garage, and equally out in the texas sun.

Only 2008 has this issue, Lexus changed plastics in 2009.

I understand your upset. Sorry to hear that. I would call corporate as most dealerships refuse to replace anything out of warranty. I wouldn't let that issue not get me into another one. I've encounter this too in my previous 07 is350 and experienced the cracking dash acura had on their later model TLs.

I am only saying I won't buy Lexus again as they make crappy cars. I do not know any other luxury brand with interior that self-disintegrates after 40k miles. I would expect this from a Dodge or Chevrolet, but not from Lexus.

It is only a question of time, all 2008 IS'es including IS-F have this issue - talked to my dealer - 100% of 2007-2008 IS'es in Florida with black plastics experience this issue.

Don't scare me, I bought C400 for my wife, but I plan to get extended warranty for it.

Called them already, they won't bulge. I am done fighting with them (although if anybody starts a class action lawsuit I will be glad to join )

Will snap some later today. It looks like it "sweats" under sun and then it becomes brittle and starts breaking/cracking.

I'm on my second '08 ISF, both with black interiors. Had both to 70k miles. In Texas sun. No issues for me. Hope it stays that way.

I guess a question I'd ask... is the part number different for a 2008 IS-F dashboard and a 2008 IS350 dashboard ?

I haven't heard the issues here in the IS-F forum that I've seen in the 2IS forum about dash problems.
